My Thoughts....

I loved it. This author gives the reader a sweet short story.  Will Nikki be able to give Wade that something-something for the holiday?  What two items will Nikki bring to the party that Wade will love?  This was another part of this author's 'Slow Hands' which was also good read.

My Thoughts....

This was a interesting historical Viking fiction romance.  I did find it somewhat predictable but
still  the read will keep your attention to the very end.  It was something to read how this 'Norse Hunter' [Valdrik] would be able to gain the attention of Duchess Adele especially now that he was now over the 'Kingdom of Brittany.'   Now, that the Duchess Adele husband has died will she be able to except what Valdrik had to offers her?  I found the characters very well developed, colorful and oh so believable helping to make the read definitely a quick descriptive, colorful page turner.  When it all comes together at the end will these two [hero and heroine] ever be able to fully trust each other? This is where I say to get the whole story the reader will have to pick up "Breton Wolfe" to get the whole presentation of a good story.

Thank you for the novel from the author for my honest opinion.

My Thoughts....

"Our Curious World of Mirror Images' was a 'whole new way of looking at our world.' The author really gives us a theory of some profound scientific facts which will center with philosophy. In a well written, structured, logical and easy to read, the reader will find many interesting illustrations that will keep you on the course of this read as one will receive some complex concept experience. Readers be ready to learn a lots about science as well as philosophy and if you are able to look at life in a different way, you maybe even get a lot more. This was indeed one interesting read...that sheds new light on what it means to be human in a world in which all things are interrelated."

I liked this from a quote from the author... from page 3...

"If you are serious about your life and read
this book with an open and thoughtful mind,
you will experience signs in your personal
reality that will confirm fro you -in your own
private views-that this new paradigm is real
and thus meaningful to your life. Your way of
thinking may even change as a consequence
of experiencing meaningful perceptions
affirming the knowledge disclosed in this

Facing Our Future: Building Strong Black Men in the Twenty-First Century, By: Jeremiah Hopes & Zack Reynolds, Jr.

Book Description....

"It is no secret that the plight of the African American male in America has reached epidemic proportions. Poor education, social injustice, substance abuse, gang violence, incarceration, uncultivated talents and skills have taken their toll.
Facing Our Future: Building Strong Black Men In The Twenty-First Century is not about recounting dismal statistics, making excuses or casting blame. This book is focused on facing our future (our young black men), providing solutions, and harnessing our collective energies and efforts to make a difference instead of wasting time and energy pointing the finger.
Within the pages of this game-changing work black men and boys, parents, educators, mentors, counselors, and community members at-large will find numerous solutions-focused topics such as: *The Essentials of Manhood, *Barriers to men being mentors, The Five Must's of A Mentor, and the Three Key Areas Where Mentoring Is Required, *Strategies For The Resident and Non-Resident Father, * What If I Can't Dribble, Dunk, Run, Or Rap?, * Let's Talk About Sex (Dating and Safe Sex In The Twenty-First Century), *How To Be Mission-Driven vs Money-Driven, *Entrepreneurship and The Multiple-Streams Of Income Mindset, *Education: Are Black Boys Brilliant Or Broken?, and *A Man's Greatest Asset And Liability
There are two things we are convinced of:
1. Blaming does nothing to solve the problem.
2. We are not the only ones that want to be a part of the solution.
In order to change the narrative, close the belief gap, and see black men as the leaders and assets that they truly are, we must be willing to roll up our sleeves and do the necessary work. The legacy of the black family of tomorrow rests in the work we do to build strong black men today. You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. If you are solutions-focused, this book was written for you!"

My Thoughts...

I will say I am a black female and was given this read by one of the authors ....to read and give a honest review.  All I can say is wow, this is one excellent read on its subject.  These authors really put it all out their for our 'black men.'  Now what do I mean by that?...Just pick up this read "Facing Our Future' and you will see how well this novel is laid out for our 'Black Men in the Twenty-First Century.'  The read starts with a foreword by Chance W. Lewis, A note to our Readers and Introduction. Then the reader is given a Part 1 [Man Your Facturing Men, It's Called MENtoring For A Reason & The Man Of The House]...Part II [What If I Can't Dribble, Dunk, Run Or Rap? Let's Talk About Sex, & Handle Your Business], Part III [Brilliant or Broken & Don't Get Mad...Get Busy!] then the Epilogue.  All I can say after all is said and done...you must read this novel for yourself to see how well these authors put it out there for the 'Black Man.' I found this read full of some good advice.

Will we be able to build strong black men in our generation?  Will their be older and wiser  people out there to be able to help, mold and shape us into what is needed for the black man today?  One thing for certain...we need to push forward.  And from this read the reader will get all of that and more.

I  love this quote I read from the epilogue...

"...It is our aim to help them to help them to be the imitable leaders, husbands, fathers and mentors that they are designed to be....The young black males of today are our future and they are worth the effort that it will take...We must not stand back and complain about the plight of black males when we can use the same energy to create positive change.  It is only when we take personal ownership of the problems facing the black male community that we can begin to see  statistics reversed and mindsets changed.  In order for the black lives to matter to others, they must first matter to us!"

There is so much more in this read that is so very good to read. Would I recommend "Facing Our Future: Building Strong Black Men in the Twenty-First Century, by:  Jeremiah Hopes & Zack Reynolds, Jr.?"   YES,YES and YES!  This is a wonderful good novel for all 'Strong Black Men' to read.

What a story this author gives the reader quite a story of Lisa Jenson and Marcella [Marc] Cavell. 'Where Would I Be' entails a little bit of it all from 'love, manipulation, possessiveness, triumph, loss, drama, depression, strength, family, friends and to redemption.'  This story will put one on quite a horrible emotional ride of a survivor's life of domestic abuse. Who will survive?  This author really does a good job with relating this story to her readers being once herself caught up not once but twice in domestic violence where it touches parents and even children too. Many questions will be identified and answered in this read that will be a great help with anyone going through domestic abuse or one knowing someone who has been a victim .... such as 'Is there life after domestic violence?' How will this love story work its way out? Will this James Harris change for he good or what?   This is where I say you will have to pick up this good read to see for yourself how well this author brings it all out to the reader. Will this heroine be able to to love again?  I loved how this author brings out Lisa's strengths. This was a very touching story that as you read one can quickly be caught up in the emotions of it all where it will feel so real. This is definitely a good read that I would recommend and knowing that 'true love will conquer all.

"Unbalanced" by Laura T. Johnson

My Thoughts....

This was a very interesting as well as a compelling story about Catherine Palmer and Dorian Wallace.
I was able to hang on every word as I read through this subplot about this story. From the read I found myself thinking this happens a lot to us...sisters...wanted love and what had already happened in Catherine's life with her parents and grandmother gone from her...she wanted someone to love her unconditionally. It looks like Catherine as it all but.... Then Catherine meets the the 'campus heartthrob, Dorian Wallace.'  Will sparks fly for these two?  Well, it seems so but was it really?  What was up with Dorian's 'domineering behavior?  Couldn't Catherine as well as others see through it all?  What will happen when Catherine faces the abuse that is right in front of her as she faces this 'Unbalanced' love?  This is where I say you will have to pick up this novel to see how this author presents it to the reader.  This author really digs deep in telling the reader this story because she has been faced with so much of it through being abused herself.

There can only be one message here and what I learned from this good read was that when one shows 'jealousy, possessiveness, controlling and a violent side' this can only lead one to a road of disaster. There are only two roads one can take ....one way in or one way out.

This was a good story dealing with Flynn, Lauryn and lots of other different characters that will have to keep up with and in the end the reader will get quite a interesting story.  The reader will be presented with a storyline and plot with a little bit of it all... from 'a abusive boyfriend, white supremacists, mafia connections,  mobsters, hero, heroine, ex girlfriends, sexy scenes, love, and even murder' to name what all will go on in this read that will certainly keep your attention until the end.  The author works it well in presenting this story to the reader especially in how she brings two unlikely people together. What puzzled me somewhat was that brotherly love between Flynn and Brett?  Now to get the whole story you will have to pick up this emotional good read to see how this author will bring it all out to the readers.  My Thoughts....

As I was reading "Privacy Wars" I thought of how this in many ways could have be a non-fiction read with it's realistic plot and then we get some sci-fi of a well written story.  We find from this story that '"Privacy" is a thing of the past and now we have what is happening in the future and offering much 'hope to return to a limited government  and also personal freedom.'   This read is full with some romance, drama, politics, loyalty, wist and turns and fast packed action with a 'Cybertech' thriller ride that will keep your attention till the end. In the end, this author really gives the reader quite a tale that may be considered so very close to reality that will be very thought provoking read.

The Billionaire Wives Club: BWWM By: Shani Greene- Dowdell and Theresa Hodge

Book Description....

"Ronan Michaels is fine as aged red wine. I’m talking wavy, chestnut brown hair, strong chiseled jawline, prominent shoulders and rugged ivory skin that’s been kissed by the sun. And those silver eyes were enough to make any woman swoon. All the women wanted him, but he chose me… his rarest, precious Ruby of them all, I was his African Queen.

Our wedding day was like a classic fairytale. I felt like a true princess. Ronan, my gallant white knight, made me feel that way. He made me feel beautiful, sexy and oh so desirable. His silver gaze held me captive from the beginning…even now, when it feels like the end… I remember looking into his eyes filled with promise as he vowed his love and devotion to me for a lifetime… I believed him.

Secrets and lies have a way of destroying lives and marriages and making what was once a happy home miserable and unbearable. My secrets…my lies cost me a price I wasn’t willing to pay. Who would’ve ever thought our happiness and love for each other would end up at this point? Not me, Ronan’s sweet Ruby…I never would’ve guessed my best days were behind me and I have no one but myself to blame.

I’m in for the fight of my life… win, lose or draw."

"God's Grace Is Sufficient: A Life After Homicide" by: Jean Jackson

My Thoughts...

This was a true story of what had happened to this person's son...for he was murdered in 2007 and now seven year later we find from this read, Ms. Jackson is now telling her story about this horrible incident. You will see from the story that this isn't a good story but one where you will see just how she felt about issues that were going on around her [Ms.Jackson] during that time. Now, how is Ms. Jackson doing now? This is where I say you will have to pick up this good short read 'God's Grace Is Sufficient' that explains it so well to the readers. You will get her true feeling about it all and how God was there for her through it all. Ms. Jackson's wrote this because she 'wants this story not only for her healing but for all families who have struggled through a similar experience.'

What I enjoyed about this story was during the read there was a certain phrase [as well as the title] that was delivered that really opened it up for me and that was "God's Grace Is Sufficient" and He really is!

Thank you to this author for a gift of her novel for a honest review.

My Thoughts....

This was a nice short novella about Christmas Davis who only wanted one thing for her community that she loved so dearly in Memphis, TN and that was helping the needy.  Will she be able to do this after she was defeated in a election by a 'Ivy League opponent'?   Will all be lost?  Christmas had been able during this election to 'raise awareness of the living conditions of the residents of the district.'  What happens when  Christmas receives a phone call from the a Presley Marino who was the brother who had won the election?  What will Presley take upon himself to do that was quite a surprise not only for Christmas but also his brother[Pierce Marino]?  I don't want to give too much away but I will say this author did a wonderful job in bringing it all out to the reader.  In the end will Christmas be able to get what she wanted for her community?  Well you will just have to pick up this good story to see how well this author brings it all out so well in "Christmas' Journey.'  Would I recommend this novel?   YES!

Heroine Tracks: Essays and Poetry from a Superwoman By: Aisha Raison

Description....

"Aisha Raison's recent book is, according to her, "Me, standing in the desert buck naked for the world...I'm getting a great tan, but still scared of getting burned."

Heroine Tracks is a book that had been created since the release of Speaking in Cursive and Other Adventures of Little Girl Blue in 2012. This book a personal diary, a few pages from her life : revealing, honest and sincere. Ms. Raison tells tales of womanhood and its friendships (or sometimes the lack of), domestic violence, rising again after a fall, cheating, coping with the end of a marriage and more. As a Womanist, poet and mother of one, she wanted to reveal more than just the poetry and to remind women that they are not alone, whether it is getting out of a relationship, reintroducing herself to the woman that she is or getting over the hurt that she has endured."

I will have to say after reading the first page of this author read, I simply couldn't put 'Heroine Tracks'  down. I had to stop and ask this author if this was a true read and was told that it was...simply leaving me to say I think this one is going to be a very intriguing good read...and it was!
Ms.Aisha is telling her story and leaving no corners left unturned in her story.  We are given a story of just how it was starting when she received her first dairy at the age of eight and her writing starts. There will be some pitfalls where she stops but will pick it back up around thirteen having learned from a horrible incident that it wasn't wise to put it in a diary Aisha 'started  writing music lyrics and poetry' where she was able to 'express and tell truths' about herself.  Now, Aisha was able 'to put her emotions on paper without someone calling her out on her silliness.'  This was great now Aisha had discovered that she was indeed 'Superwoman.'  All seemed well and good  for Aisha but there will be many pitfalls for her as wants a good man in her life.  Will she be able to find one that will love her?  You will find that there are twelve chapters and ten poems included in this read.  My favorite chapter was Chapter seven...'An Open Apology...By An Independent Black Woman.'  I loved it!  The poems were wonderful...all talking about what Aisha and what she had done through...but my favorite one was number eight...'And God Created Woman.'  I don't want to tell too much other than say this is a very good read and only hope you will pick it up and see how well this author brings out this well written essays all out to the reader.  In the end you will get Aisha complete story that I will say is a survivor and I am sure she will make it with or without ......  Thank you for your story and indeed you are a 'Superwoman!'

I want to thank this author for her gift of this read for my honest opinion I met at the BWABC Literacy Festival in Memphis, TN last September, 2015.

My Thoughts....

This was a wonderful well written novel with this author showing an sharing her 'Journey to Praise' through consecrations and fasting.  I loved how this author was able to share her story with us as she starts 'using the tools that had been given to her from God.'  It all starts with her story...health challenges, finances which can lead to depression. What did God tell her to do in this situation she had been dealt? This will be a good read as Ms. Dotson is taken a quite a journey 'seeking and searching for a church  that would help her in her spiritual growth.'  What did she find on this journey?  As the reader reads through this novel we learn about just what consecration and fasting really means.  How does all of this work?  Well, just sit back an read about Jackie Dotson's  Journey to Praise as she explains it all as she tells her story backed up with scriptures on this beautiful road as Ms. Dotson 'lays out many of God's tools needed in order to receive the blessing He has for you'.  We will continue on this 'Journey after the 21st Day Fast.' This was beautifully delivered and then it's our turn where we get 'Your Journey to Praise' where we are 'to use the tools that God has given us.'  I loved how this author gives us each step...starting with 'The Fruits of the Spirit'  on to the ending which was to 'Be Hold in the Lord,'  At the end of the read we are presented a 21 day Journal with each step followed with the scriptures of praises to follow  which were inspired by biblical numbers for each day.' And the last section we will be presented the 'Journey Continues which was a *Special Bonus.*

Wow, this is a rich read that only will not  be fully understood until you pick up this excellent read of  "Journey to Praise" to see for yourself how well this message is brought out by this author.  This was indeed a good story of what "God did in Ms.Dotson's life.

"Neti the Yeti Saves His Mountain"  was a beautifully illustrated children's novel. This novel is a quick read about climate change that anyone child would enjoy reading.   It was quite a fun, cute read about a furry guy who seeks answers involving how one can help with environmental issues that are important to all.  What was so well showed in this book was how one's children can seek answers to these problems and as well as help in some of these situations that kids use everyday. This book was written very kid friendly with some cute colorful drawings showing how easy it is for humans to use energy, resources and food especially with 'people wanting what they want, when they want it.'  In the end all will learn a important lesson to why it is so important to take care of our environment and what can even be done about it. Would I recommend this for children?  YES!
