The Overdue Life of Amy Byler Kindle Edition by Kelly Harms

Book Synopsis:

“A laugh-out-loud funny, pitch-perfect novel that will have readers rooting for this unlikely, relatable, and totally lovable heroine, The Overdue Life of Amy Byler is the ultimate escape—and will leave moms everywhere questioning whether it isn’t time for a #momspringa of their own.” —New York Journal of Books
Overworked and underappreciated, single mom Amy Byler needs a break. So when the guilt-ridden husband who abandoned her shows up and offers to take care of their kids for the summer, she accepts his offer and escapes rural Pennsylvania for New York City.
Usually grounded and mild-mannered, Amy finally lets her hair down in the city that never sleeps. She discovers a life filled with culture, sophistication, and—with a little encouragement from her friends—a few blind dates. When one man, in particular, makes quick work of Amy’s heart, she risks losing herself completely in the unexpected escape, and as the summer comes to an end, Amy realizes too late that she must make an impossible decision: stay in this exciting new chapter of her life, or return to the life she left behind.
But before she can choose, a crisis forces the two worlds together, and Amy must stare down a future where she could lose both sides of herself, and every dream she’s ever nurtured, in the beat of a heart.

"The Overdue Life of Am Byler" by Kelly Harms

My Rationalization:

"The Overdue Life of Amy Byler" was definite on the point that her life needed a change.  With Amy being a single parent, working as a Librarian, raising two children [Cori & Joe]for three years all by herself due to the fact that her husband had walked out on the family and went to Hong Kong to work. Now, her ex so she thought was back and wanted to be in his children's life.  It was good to see Amy finally getting some time for herself in New York and the characters that she became involved with was humorous in all sorts of ways.  It was good seeing Amy reinvent herself after the time she had created a life alone for her and the children. Amy, however, did get on my nerves as she often claimed that she had 'deserted or abandoned her children.' What the heck was that about?  Didn't she understand that she desired it!  Another part of the story that I didn't understand was since it seems as if John [her ex or whatever]seemed to have had money why had he not helped with child support?  Why in the world would she let him get away with that!  Well, this new and improved John...I just don't know.  I hope he is there for his children as there seems to be a new romance for Amy?  To find out you will have to pick up the good read to see what is next for Amy.

Good Men By: Jennifer Weiner

Book Description...

"A prequel to Jennifer Weiner’s bestselling and beloved debut, "Good Men" takes us into the world and mind of Bruce Guberman, on the night of an ill-fated bachelor party, when Bruce and his friends decide to kidnap his girlfriend Cannie's rat terrier Nifkin. A tender, riotously funny short story, "Good Men" is about five men and their unlikely friendships and also about love, marriage, and what gives two people the courage to link hands and jump off the cliff."

"Good Men" by Jennifer Weiner

My Thoughts....

This author gives the reader a decent short story prequel to the novel 'Good in Bed.' I had read the novel before I read this read "Good Men" and really I was able to understand a little more about Bruce along with his childhood friends. One thing for sure that I did learn was that at time I believe Bruce really did loved Cannie and that's all I have to say on that issue.
