A Change In Tide by Freya Barker

Book Excerpt:

"What impact would it have when everything suddenly faded to black?

For Mia, a crowded subway ride changes her entire life. Retreating to the wilderness helps her cope with a world that is suddenly too loud, too turbulent. Her existence safely contained to the small cottage on the lake, she is unprepared for the neighbor that moves across the bay.

A career-ending injury has Jared permanently benched. His reputation as The Enforcer won't survive the unanticipated responsibilities awaiting him. Away from the public eye, he adjusts to his new reality, under the quiet observation of the intriguing hermit on the other side of the water."

"A Change In Tide" by Freya Barker

My Speculation:

"A Change In Tide" was an excellent audio read where the narrators did an excellent job of portraying to the reader a satisfying story. We find out that the heroine suffered from PTSD and agoraphobia and thought to move to a secluded area would be the answer for her life living in a secluded life on a lake. However, a new neighbor moves in, Jared, who had just retired from the NHL due to a knee injury, moves in along with his sister, and Mia's life will never be the same. Believe it, Jared only wanted a quiet place to live while helping his sister with her new baby. So, what will happen when Mia and Jared meet up? It was fun listening to how the meet up began, and all the bantering that went on with touches of humor enhanced many parts of the read that did a lot to shake up Mia's world. All of the characters in this story were all very well developed and defined, giving the reader an excellent read.

Well, this is where I say you will have to pick up this good read to see how it all happens. It will be a heck of a story that will keep you listening to its story.

Thank you to Spectrum Audio through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Come, By: Becca Jameson

Book Description...

"Katy Marks has worked hard for years to make partner at her law firm and be accepted in a man's world. She hasn't had much time for play. Now she has a stalker, one of the firm's partners who hopes to entice her to gain promotion by sleeping with him. Backed into a corner, she grabs an unexpected opportunity. She wards off his unwanted advances by plastering herself against the sexy man leaning casually against the wall outside her uncle's gym.

Rafe Wesson is stunned by one look at the sexy woman so totally out of place in the gym and finds himself flattened by his best friend and sparring partner. Scrambling to ensure he gets a chance to speak with her, he instead finds himself KO'd by a kiss that rocks his world and hardens him in all the right places.

Katy isn't Rafe's type. She's far too innocent. Besides, she's the gym owner's niece. But two dates don't dampen his desire or release her from his thoughts. Rafe has personal rules against sleeping with a woman before they are fully informed about his dominant ways. But Katy is testing his patience. She wants him, but he fears she won't be as persistent when she finds out about his preferred lifestyle.

Rafe tries to step away from her, but he can't ignore the unknown threat that stalks her, and time is running out. Someone wants Katy dead. And Rafe wants Katy...very much alive.

"Come" by Becca Jameson

My Thoughts...

I guess Katy Marks who was a lawyer never new that from a kiss coming out of her uncle's gym place would get her involved with Rafe Walker who was a hot MMA fighter and also a Dom.  However, we find that Katy had other troubles and that was being stalked but by who? Was this someone from her past?  This author really presents a interesting plot where the reader will find out a lots about BDSM life where the characters are well developed, strong, smart individuals that live everyday life's.  Yes, this author really knows how to give the reader quite a image of foreplay that will keep you turning the pages.  So, if you are not into this BDSM then this read may not be for you. There will be a suspense to just who is stalking Kate and how well she seems to enjoy coming out of her shell to this new way of life with Rafe and definitely enjoying having him as her bodyguard.   By the end of this story I really enjoyed the interesting synopsis of the story.

My Thoughts....

I found this novel a very interesting well written read that definitely kept my attention all the way till the end.  I found the main characters...Isaiah, Victor and Evan and Ian some very intriguing, well developed and believable giving the readers one good story.  Was this a gay read?  Yes! With the two main characters Isaiah [football player] and Victor [ballet dancer] both being from two different backgrounds it was quite interesting in how this author was able to give the readers a story that did connect quite well and bringing the son [Evan] into the picture really helped bring this story altogether.  Even though this was the second marriage for Isaiah [after having losing his former husband Stephen from a accident] will he be able to leave the past behind and start a new one with his new husband? Will Isaiah began to love again?   I will say that I didn't really care very much for Isaiah until toward the end where it seems like after a certain incident that involved his son maybe he got some sense in what was really happening in this whole situation.  Now, I don't want to spoil it ...just saying you will have to pick up this novel and see for yourself what all it is about and how this author will bring it all out in the end. I felt that this was a enjoyable story that in the end you will find out if these two will get their HEA.

My Thoughts...

This was a good coming of age story that dealt with some remarkable characters that were 'friends, family, compassion, understanding, self-awareness, and lovers.'  Each of these characters had a story of their own tragedy that will definitely keep you turning the pages as the reader gets 'one hot love triangle' about the struggles of high school popularity.  From a sassy girl, a jock and a new guy the readers get quite an interesting wonderful story of love.  These were definitely some 'misfits' who come together as they had struggles of abuse, tragedy, and heartaches. Truly there was love for Abigail from Clayton and Vic that seemed to work for them.  Will Abigail finally realize she is worthy of the loved she needs and be able to move on past her fear of that word?  The secondary characters Adam and Wayde really come into the story giving some important parts of the story with their friendship.    In the end, the reader will get one wonderful, amazing read that will only leave you wanting more.

In The Ring By: Perri Forrest

Book Description....

"“In the Ring” introduces Dario “DC” Caivano, heavyweight champion, who is also a man with a heavy heart. It isn’t without reason, however. As a teenager, Dario witnessed the murder of someone that he loved like a brother, and it took a lot out of him. It hardened him and left little to trust. Years have passed since the horrific crime, but it hasn’t gotten Dario any closer to being a man that can love . . . or be loved. In fact, he’s his best self when he’s in the ring where he can release his aggressions, if only for twelve rounds of “play”, to escape to a world where he can repeatedly annihilate the person responsible for his cousin’s death.

But what happens when he allows himself to come up for air?

Chanel Norwood is a single parent and club owner who is something like a “Boss”. She’s fiercely independent and knows exactly what she wants out of life, and right now it isn’t to be in an intimate relationship. She’s too busy taking care of business and raising a preteen son. After a failed relationship, Chanel has sworn off men—especially athletes. In her eyes, she’s already had one too many.

But how long can you fight fate?

When Dario and Chanel are thrown together, while the attraction is there, sparks don’t immediately fly. Both of them have lives and hearts that they’re very protective of. But as time goes on, they find there’s more to guard than just emotions when their worlds collide in a way that no one ever expected.

“In the Ring” is not without its share of secrets, drama, and ah-ha moments. Overall, it’s a story of love, loss, life and paths to new beginnings."

My Thoughts.

Good Read!

This author gives the reader something to think about...what happens when a secret finally comes out but was it really a secret that one important person already knew about it? I kept wondering what was it about these sisters that seemed to keep them apart [Chanel & Rochelle]? Let's not leave out the two main characters... Chanel & Dario who were two interesting people were truly drawn together in so many ways. Well, all I can say is that is this was one amazing read with twist and turns that that one will only have to pick up and read to see how well this author presents it to the readers. I enjoyed how the story flowed so well together and in the end all I can say is that the readers will gets one simply a good read.

Will these two Bear Thompson and Aria Paul finally get their HEA? They had know each other but circumstances had caused one to leave.  I found this was a beautifully written story of how what will be will be.  Now, it may take a while for all of it to work out as it was for these to but in the end well you will just have to pick up this good read by the author to see how this will all finally come out for Bear and Aria.  It will not be a easy road for these two for they both had so much going on in the present life.  Who will be willing to change their situation? I found this story somewhat predicable but still a well written one that will definitely keep your attention all the way to the end. It will be quite interesting to see if  Bear and Aria will finally get their HEA?  Again you will just have to pick up this read to see how it all will all come out.

My Thoughts...

This was quite a interesting story by this author that featured a younger man [Zack] who was 22 and older woman [Shelly] whose age wasn't given in this story. How these two got together was unique in the sense it was because of a stray dog [Dewey] being found by Shelley that belonged to Zack.  Zack was a professional soccer player there in this small town and Shelly was a widow who worked for her in-laws.  The author gives the readers a sweet well written story about these two people and the dog along with some very intriguing secondary characters that were well developed, portrayed and believable where you will have no trouble keeping up with all that will be going on. What will happen when Shelly and Zack decide to get to know each other?  What problems will that present to them and especially Shelly's in laws.I will say I loved the way the two main characters were able to talk and share with each other their feelings.    Be ready for a little bit of humor along with some serious challenges that will deal with some conflict that will come into play in the story and the twist at the end was just perfect.  Now, I will stop here and say you will have to pick this read up and see for yourself how well this author brings in all out to the reader.  If you are into animals, sports and romance then I would definitely recommend this novel to you.

My Thoughts....

This was a wonderfully short written  Christmas Romance series of the London Legends #3.5.  Be prepared to be entertained by some well developed and defined characters that face some real day to day life issues for being 'big and awkward.'  I liked how this author gives the readers such an intriguing read with Gwen Chambers having insecure issues and John Sheldon...oh my being the alpha that he was.  In time will these two be able to 'work for it and each other in this whirlwind romance?'  I loved the relationship that John had with his daughter...and how with Gwen's helped with that situation and also their relationship that they had with each other. Yes, it will be some hot steamy sex added in the story and to get even more of the story you will just have to pick up the read to see how well this author presents this story to the readers. What I liked about this novel ...

This was the third series of  'The Blue Dynasty' and it was a good read where this one is about Martha Blue  who was one of the youngest but not a pushover.  So, what she rebellious and just wanted to have a good time?  Yes, but was there more to Martha than just that because she was able to have a few secrets of her own from her family. I loved how Martha was a strong women who fought for what she believed in showing how her hard work and determination...well I will stop here and let you read it for yourself.

Now to add to this story there was Joaquin (Las Vegas Prince) who seemed like a 'lost soul' that would leave him wanting to prove something  of who he was ...from his past.  This is a deep read that you will have to keep up with the read because there will be twist and turns as you read through each of these characters raw emotions.  In the end will these two be able to fight for the genuine love that they really have for each other?

I found the characters very well developed, well rounded, well portrayed, colorful and believable giving the reader an excellent read of what all is going on.  Martha's mother was really some pill to shallow and I did like the addition of the new character by the name of  Avery who became part of Martha's family.

This author was able to really give the reader the description of just what was going on at that time and  in the end giving us a well written script that will keep you turning the pages till the end.

I will say to learn more about this series ('The Blue Dynasty)  I would suggest you read the first two series first before reading this one, however, "Just For Christmas Night"  is a stand alone read.  I found "Just For Christmas Night" was one interesting read where you will get a little of it all.... from 'past  lust, desire, acceptance, trust to even some new choices'  and with saying that I would definitely recommend this novel and just a heads  up ....there will be another romance from this author's  The  Blue Dynasty series, 'Mine Tonight' coming soon!
