"Debbie Doesn't Do It Anymore" by Walter Mosley...

What is this novel about?

"In this scorching, mournful, often explicit, and never less than moving literary novel by the famed creator of the Easy Rawlins series, Debbie Dare, a black porn queen, has to come to terms with her sordid life in the adult entertainment industry after her tomcatting husband dies in a hot tub. Electrocuted. With another woman in there with him. Debbie decides she just isn't going to "do it anymore." But executing her exit strategy from the porn world is a wrenching and far from simple process.

Millions of men (and no doubt many women) have watched famed black porn queen Debbie Dare—she of the blond wig and blue contacts-"do it" on television and computer screens every which way with every combination of partners the mind of man can imagine. But one day an unexpected and thunderous on-set orgasm catches Debbie unawares, and when she returns to the mansion she shares with her husband, insatiable former porn star and "film producer" Theon Pinkney, she discovers that he's died in a case of hot tub electrocution, "auditioning" an aspiring "starlet." Burdened with massive debts that her husband incurred, and which various L.A. heavies want to collect on, Debbie must reckon with a life spent in the peculiar subculture of the pornography industry and her estrangement from her family and the child she had to give up. She's done with porn, but her options for what might come next include the possibility of suicide. Debbie . . . is a portrait of a ransacked but resilient soul in search of salvation and a cure for grief."

What I liked about this novel...

This author gives the reader one interesting raw read of the pornography industry and the efforts of a woman named Debbie Dare and finding redemption in a  Sandra Peel.  I will have to say this was different from his previous novel...Devil in a Blue Dress (Easy Rawlins Mysteries) in which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Now, after saying that I will say this novel was a good one too.   I found  it was an intriguing read of this protagonist porn star being able to change her previous path of choices of change and even some redemption.  This will be a read of a roller coaster ride and will  keep your attention as Debbie will be presented with discovering her husband dead, sorting out finances and finding debt, handling racism on to setting up an agenda for her new life that was ahead for building a new life. The characters were all well developed, well portrayed and believable.  And as usual this author helps to get the reader  into the soul of his characters. Be prepared for the most part there was a good balance of the sexual and violence content scenes in the read.

What I especially liked from the read...

"Debbie Doesn't Do It Anymore" was a fast mystery read.  Once you start reading you will not want to put it down until the end.  Yes, this  novel is somewhat different from some of this author's other novels  but yet it is again a good one that I would recommend to you.

"Going Solo" by Brenda Barrett...

What is this novel about?

"Lead singer of the New Song Band, Carson Bell, had a lovely voice, a heart of gold, and was no slouch in the looks department. So why did his wife, Alice, abandon him and their daughter? And why after ten years was she now waltzing back into his life, wanting to pick up where they left off? Will Carson take her back, or will he choose to go solo for the rest of his life?"

What I liked about this book...

All I can say is that this was a good and very interesting Christian read about Alice and Carson.  This author gives the reader a well written novel that will address many interesting issues especially those dealing with church people.  It all goes  to show one that  it doesn't matter what position you may be in at church bad things can happen as it did for Alice.  The storyline and characters were really off the chart in that it was all very well written and I found the characters well developed, well portrayed, colorful, real and believable that helped to give the reader a wonderful read from start to finish.  How Alice made it though ten years after what had happened to her was truly something but it the end...well, this is where I will stop and say pick up "Going Solo" to see how well this author brings it all out to the reader.

What I especially loved about this read....

I love how we were able to see the 'Fruits of the Spirit" in this amazing novel....'Love, Forgiveness, Patience, and Longsuffering'  and in the end we were truly given a sweet ending.  All that is left is to get the next series...Duet on Fire.

"Shelter Me" by Catherine Mann...

From USA Today bestselling author Catherine Mann comes this beautiful, heartwarming novel about a returning military officer, the daughter of his fallen commander, and a very special dog with a mission. For fans of Jill Shalvis and Susan Mallery.

"Nestled in the sunny fields of Tennessee lies the McDaniel family’s Second Chance Ranch Animal Rescue. Two new arrivals are on their way, but only one is the four-legged kind.

Staff Sergeant Mike Kowalski wants only one thing after he gets home from Iraq: to sleep in a king-sized bed with clean sheets. But first, he has to hand off his fallen commander’s dog, Trooper, to his family without handing off his heart to Sierra…

Sierra McDaniel needs a break. Her family life is crazy, and when she’s not mucking out kennels, she’s slogging through grad school. Sierra certainly doesn’t want another dog, especially one that reminds her of her father. And she definitely doesn’t want to see Mike with that charming smile of his…

But Trooper has a mission of his own. Before too long Mike is moving to the ranch to lend a hand—and hoping for his own second chance with Sierra."

What I liked from  "Shelter Me"....

hesitated  a bit before I picked up this read after reading what this novel was about but I am so glad that I did.  I will say this author really knows how to write a script that puts the reader at ease with the subject line.  Let's just say this was a story that involved the whole McDaniel family. From the father, [fallen commander], his father (the grandfather), wife, daughter, son, dog and a dear friend of  the family. You will find from the read that this is a military family  their has been a death [a dear son, husband and father...with  the surviving family members  have to endure quite a lots pain before this story will end.  A dear friend [Mike]to the family has brought home a dog [Trooper] that had belonged to this fallen commander.  Why, because Mike had  promised to do so.  It seems like this dog was a reminder of a dog that had once been owned by this fallen commander.   Only when Mike had done his job  with delivering Trooper to this family  he they will see that this family needed his help.  With Mike being on leave what could he do but help especially since this would possibly put him closer to Sierra since they had broken up with much earlier before his time over seas. I will let you in on a secret... I even teared  up  while reading some of this good read.  This author really works her magic in showing how each one of these family members were desperately in the need of his help and yet didn't Mike also need help?   Also this author even gave thoughts of  that of the  dog Trooper...yes of  what Trooper was thinking from the read.  Now, you know dogs can't talk or can they?

The primary and secondary characters  were all richly  developed as they seemed to come alive on the pages with each scene and conversation  being so complete and special.  Also those hot, steamy scenes from  a certain couple was off the chart...well done.  I don't want to give too much away but I will say this was a excellent and yes it's a military read. So be prepared for some real issues that can happen and you will find it interesting in how they are handled.  Will they be fixable?  You will just have to see for yourself.  "Shelter Me" was somewhat long read but nothing was over done. When this author brings it to a close at the end of the read all will be wrapped up...well except one situation that will have you wondering.... but you will have to read the next series  to find out what that was.  Would I recommend  "Shelter Me?"   YES and Yes!

"The Lemon Grove" by Helen Walsh

What is this novel about:

"Set on the rugged, mountainous west coast of Mallorca, this taut, sultry, brilliantly paced novel is an urgent meditation on female desire, the vicissitudes of marriage and the allure of youth.

Taking place over the course of one week, The Lemon Grove lands in the heat of Deia, a village on an island off the southeast coast of Spain. Jenn and Greg are on their annual holiday to enjoy languorous, close afternoons by the pool, and relaxed dinners overlooking the rocks. But the equilibrium is upset by the arrival of their teenage daughter, Emma, and her boyfriend, Nathan. Jenn, in her early forties, loves her (older) husband and her (step)daughter and is content with her life, she thinks. But when this beautiful, reckless young man comes into her world, she is caught by a sexual compulsion that she's seldom felt before. As the lines hotly blur between attraction, desire and obsession, Jenn’s world is thrown into tumult--by Nathan's side, she could be young and carefree once again, and at this stage in her life, the promise of youth is every bit as seductive as the promise of passion. Jenn struggles between the conflicting pulls of resistance and release, and the events of the next few days have the potential to put lives in jeopardy as the players carry out their roles in this unstoppably sexy and unputdownable novel from a brilliant observer of the human condition."

What I got from this novel.....

Well, I can say this turned out to be some holiday in Mallorca for this family.  As I was reading I was wondering when this family all got together plus the visitor who would have thought that this type of situation would happen.  What forty year old woman would be looking at their step daughter who was fifteen boyfriend who was just seventeen years old.  I will say the whole thing made no sense to me.  Yes, I know Jenn is in her early forties, married to a much older husband but why the interest in her step daughter's boyfriend?  This author did put together a read that takes place within a week...thank god for that!  I did like the way this author was able to give us a story that made you seem as though you are there in the midst of it all listening in. I don't know that may not have been a good thing now that I think on it.    With this story being heavily sexual with Jenn's thoughts and all about Nathan  with this being a betrayal of not only her husband but her step daughter too and my point is that  I will say I was at awe of it all.  Is this another Mrs. Robinson?  Now add the father Greg's secret and the stepdaughter problems and all I can say is this was some read.

I picked this read so I knew I had to read it to the very end but I will say it really did noting for me...the characters or even the story. I will say that I did not like any of the characters, however, I will say that this author did a good job at making them very real and I may be reaching a little.  Not to say this author didn't  do a good job with writing because she really has a way with words,  but it was still far too intense for me to really follow the flow of it all.  All that I was able to think of was the forty year old having feelings for this seventeen year old who was still a child.  Let's not discuss that ending other than to say you will have to pick up "The Lemon Grove" and see what you think of this read for yourself.  I will stop here because I don't want to give away any anymore spoilers.

My Impression of this novel...

I will say "The Lemon Grove" left me shocked, very intensed....with characters that were flawed, broken and even dislikable.  The ending to this story was yet another  strange one for me and at the end for me I breathed with relief  saying  thank God I made it through this read!

"Sex and Crime:  Oliver's Strange Journey  by Oliver Markus...

What is the novel about?

"Sex and Crime: Oliver's Strange Journey is an autobiographical book that follows the incredible life of Oliver, a teenage hacker in Aachen, Germany, who is the victim of traumatic childhood abuse and suffers from PTSD. He falls in love with an American girl online, and spends many hours on the phone with her every day for a year, until he moves in with her in New York. After his crazy adventures as a New York cab driver, he becomes a successful cartoonist and goes on to be an Internet millionaire. A painful divorce throws him into a deep, almost suicidal depression, until he falls in love with a heroin addict and he ends up moving to Fort Myers, Florida. As his life spirals more and more out of control, Oliver gets sucked deeper and deeper into the dark world of drug addiction and prostitution.

Sex and Crime offers an unflinching look at the seedy underworld of Fort Myers, that most residents are probably not aware of. It explores the world of online prostitution, the underlying causes and consequences of drug addiction, as well as the shortcomings of the AA 12-step-program and the failure of traditional rehab programs that are utterly divorced from modern medical science.

Along his journey, Oliver encounters a number of female drug addicts and he empathizes with them because of his own traumatic past. He feels compelled to try to help them escape the addict lifestyle, but the end result is always the same. They break his heart.

Despite all its gritty ugliness, there is beauty to be found in Sex and Crime. Oliver never gives up hope that the next drug addict may be different. He never stops believing that deep down every person is good and deserves a second chance in life.

There have been a number of books about drug addiction in recent years, but Sex and Crime offers a fresh, unique perspective. Oliver himself is not addicted to drugs, and yet addiction takes a heavy toll on him, as the addicts in his life hurt him over and over.

His knowledge of addiction is at once intimate and distant. As outsider deep inside the drug world he has a unique vantage point. There's an old saying: "Fish don't know they're wet." Oliver sees patterns and similarities that the addicts themselves can't see.

The book is more than an examination of drug addiction and its harrowing consequences and collateral damage. It is an emotional, deeply personal and often very touching account of one man's struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, addiction in all its many forms, love and loss.

Although it's an autobiography, Sex and Crime often feels like an action adventure novel, because the events described are so far removed from what most people consider normal every-day life.

The book deals with very dark subject matter, but the author's eloquently simplistic prose makes it a breeze to read. His writing never feels pompous or pretentious. He takes the reader by the hand and gently leads you deeper and deeper into the darkness.

Oliver's ability to recognize his own mistakes in hindsight, and his humble, self-deprecating sense of humor make Sex and Crime a very entertaining read, even when his brutal honesty makes you cringe."

What I got from this novel........

Wow, this was some story that dealt with this person's true autobiography story of computer hacking, drugs, pimps incarcerated felons, slavery, hunger, and prostitution. I liked how this author was able to deliver this story to the reader in that it really was able to give a new meaning to this subject line.  This was definitely a eye opener for me that I will carry with me from this page turning read.   The author really gives the reader a very easy, smooth and even a thriller kind of read and you will be  drawn into the read. The characters were definitely believable and realistic only helping to give us a  good read.   Wow again all I can say is that  I can imagine that this novel was one hard one to write but it was done very well in that it was so well written.  This author definitely give the reader something to learn from  in that it was such an informative and intriguing read with some fascinating stories.  "Sex and Crime" is not for the faint of heart because its leaves nothing to imagination  because it  gets  all up in the mind of a addict.... and it will also give you the look and affect of those who try to help and love them.

What I also liked from this novel....

I like the quotes that were used at the beginning of each chapter.

My Overall  Impression of Sex and Crime: Oliver's Strange Journey...

I thought this was a well written story was simply outstanding definitely not your average read and quite  different from most authors I have read from.  Mr. Oliver is definitely one not afraid of speaking his mind without censorship.  However, when it's all said and done it's quite some amazing  story where you are given a  brutally honest story.  Would I recommend?  Yes, only if you are looking for a different kind of read.

"The Widow Waltz"  by Sally Koslow...

What Is This Book About?

"Georgia Waltz has things many people only dream of: a plush Manhattan apartment overlooking Central Park, a Hamptons beach house, valuable jewels and art, two bright daughters, and a husband she adores, even after decades of marriage. It’s only when Ben suddenly drops dead from a massive coronary while training for the New York City Marathon that Georgia discovers her husband—a successful lawyer—has left them nearly penniless. Their wonderland was built on lies.

As the family attorney scours emptied bank accounts, Georgia must not only look for a way to support her family, she needs to face the revelation that Ben was not the perfect husband he appeared to be, just as her daughters—now ensconced back at home with secrets of their own—have to accept that they may not be returning to their lives in Paris and at Stanford subsidized by the Bank of Mom and Dad. As she uncovers hidden resilience, Georgia’s sudden midlife shift forces her to consider who she is and what she truly values. That Georgia may also find new love in the land of Spanx and stretch marks surprises everyone—most of all, her.

Sally Koslow's fourth novel is deftly told through the alternating viewpoints of her remarkable female protagonists as they plumb for the grit required to reinvent their lives. Inspiring, funny, and deeply satisfying, The Widow Waltz explores in a profound way the bonds between mothers and daughters, belligerent siblings, skittish lovers, and bitter rivals as they discover the power of forgiveness, and healing, all while asking, "What is family, really?"

What I liked from the read....

"The Widow Waltz" was a intricate story that had many twist and turns  that you may find hard to believe...but maybe not.  I will say this story really take the cake and icing when all is said and done...and that ending leaving only for me to say Wow...I was all caught up in this story until  that ending?  I will say that this novel was a fast paced read for me because I couldn't put it down once I had started reading from it.

This was truly a story that was woven into many lives with such intermingle with all the discoveries that would be found out in the process of it all was deliciously presented by this author.  I liked how this author was able to give us a good read of how this main character (Georgia) was able to deal with her unexpected circumstances of  life.   This was quite a family of dynamics which involved the widow(Georgia), two, daughters (Luey & Cola), brother (Stephen) and I think even the brothers' partner too.  For the heroine along with the daughters had to learn to re evaluate the life they had lived and enjoyed  and for a live of change.  I did like the interchange between the daughters because I felt it was real.

Be ready for some side stories in the rich tale as Georgia life crumbles, stories about a ring, stolen necklaces, French chefs, rock stars, dog watching...all coming to emotional roll coaster  as she finds that she really didn't need her husband to feel useful and or productive.  Thank God for that assurance!

What I also liked from the read...

When all is said and done this could be any women who suddenly loses her husband and you are caught having to deal with something like this can really give us  something for all to think about.
In the end "The Widow Waltz" showed that change is possible for one through loving and healing.

What gave me cause to wonder ...WHAT IN THE WORLD...JUST HAPPENED????

That  ending and I won't spoil it for you but that left me saying W O W and a few more words!  Is that believable!...OK...I know it's fiction but really????

When the hospital is notified that it has been chosen to host a team of foreign doctors, Adanna meets the man she has always dreamed of."

What I like about this novel...

This novel was a sweet romance featuring Charles Stafford and Nurse Adanna Okoro. This was the second one of the Stafford brothers and I did found the read definitely somewhat different from the first series. It was interesting in seeing some of the family drama that did go on in  each of the families of Charles and Adanna and seeing how they go through it all  is really amazing by the end of the story.  Charles is finding is professional fulfillment after he starts working in Africa and meeting Adanna who was a nurse .  This author really presents us a well written story of bringing these two together and I will stop here and say you must pick up the good read to see for yourself how it all comes out.

What I also loved about this read.....

The author really presented  to the reader some excellent knowledge of the Nigerian culture and their politics.  I loved the interest  taken with baby Chichi.  This Doctors Without Borders was quite interesting group of Doctors.

Overall impression....

"Till You Come Back To Me" was a very easy nice pace read  that was very understandable, along with it being entertaining that will keep your attention.  It  was a good follow up from the first series  featuring a  Stafford brother Marc... with this series being of Charles.  That only leaves me to say  I will be waiting  for the next series featuring Greg Stafford in 'Don't Stop Till You Get Enough.'

What is this novel about....

"Love and forgiveness spin their magic as a woman discovers that home is where her heart belongs in Emily March’s moving new Eternity Springs novel. After another lonely Valentine’s Day, Gabi Romano trades mountain snowfall for sunshine and sand at a luxurious Caribbean getaway. There she discovers a hidden talent for creating fine art glass. She also meets Flynn Brogan, the sexy caretaker next door who brings her fantasies to life. But when violence interrupts their romantic interlude, she learns that Flynn is living a lie. Heartsick, she decides to concentrate on her craft. Playing with fire is safer than loving a man like Flynn.

Flynn is determined to make things right with Gabi—until his enemies interfere. Now damaged and driven by a need he cannot define, he seeks out Gabi’s Colorado community, hoping for reconciliation and some peace. But he never imagined a place like Eternity Springs, where lives are changed, second chances are given, and the possibility exists for two wounded souls to find their way home . . . to each other."

What I like about this novel.....

This series was of Gabi Romano and Flynn Brogan.  I thought only magic could bring them together with  all they had to go through.  I felt this was a enjoyable contemporary romance  with some suspense that will get and keep you attention till the end.  This author seemed to have a way in portraying the folks of Eternity Springs in her series  who really had to fight many hardships of life but in the end they are able to find love and even come out the better for it.  How this author is able to do this is simply something...where you will find some 'humor, drama, trials, sex, tribulations' and only in the end there seems to  be a healing process that will come about.

Bringing these two together ...Gabi who seems to have lost it all and then there is Flynn who has a painful past and a bucket load of bad luck...however bringing them together again after all is said and done seems to have come kind of healing powers there in Eternity Springs where life seems to be worth them living once more.  I don't want to spoil it for you because I want you to pick up the wonderful read to see how this author brings it all out for you.

Be prepared for an engaging romantic story telling with intense emotions are at its highest where you will see how life has dealt these two people some horrible  unhappiness but in the end...well again you must pick up "Dreamweaver Trail" to see if  how will find happiness again.  I found  this novel had a  wonderful supporting cast of characters that were well developed, portrayed, colorful and even yet believable.

My Impression of this novel...

I found  this "Dreamweaver Trail" series number eight a very good read where there will be shown a special connection of these two people, coupled with losses and then a healing process as this author shows its reader in her writing using such  gracefulness and even some humor.

His neighbor’s niece, Mia Bodell, is in charge—and she has made it clear that she’d rather be roped to a steer than to Reid Knowles. Never one to back down from a challenge, Reid vows to win her trust.

Her life marked by loss, Mia knows that nothing comes easily—love included. In high school, her heart was crushed by Reid, and even though years have passed, the hurt lingers. Mia is achingly aware that the teen heartthrob has matured into a devastatingly handsome playboy, and the budding winemaker refuses to let down her guard. But one taste of unbridled passion changes things. From Reid’s first intoxicating kiss to his unexpectedly tender seduction, Mia is swept into a passionate affair that could tear her heart to pieces . . . or give her everything she has ever wanted."

What I liked from this novel.....

This was the second  series of Silver Creek#2  ..."Once Tasted" was about Mia Bodell and Reid Knowles that seemed to be in a love/hate relationship.   I found this read very heart touching, full of heat, and I was even caught laughing at some of the humor (especially about that 'black eye') as I turned  the pages.  I loved this good story line that had romance, suspense and oh yes, the wonderful characters.  Not only were the main characters well developed , colorful and believable but the secondary characters were very richly developed as they seemed to come alive as you are reading.  I love how this author is able to produce such good descriptions of  her characters and to that vineyard....I could taste the wine.

Not wanting to give away spoilers, I will say that I did liked how this author was able to get these two together delivering to the reader so well  a written script that presents us with a story of twist and turns, some drama and family issues.  This is where I say you must pick up "Once Tasted" to see for yourself.

What I also liked from the read....

I loved how this author was able to show the reader how one person can destroy your life and livelihood only if you let them.

What I didn't like about the novel....at first....

What bothered me somewhat about this novel was the way the heroine saw herself  with a fragile ego and didn't see her own worth and beauty, with self-esteem problems with wounded heart and trust issues...my, my .....however was that about to change?

And I didn't  like the Uncle Thomas ad Aunt Ellen's son Jay.  I won't say anymore ....you will just have to read for yourself ....why?  But in the end...

 Overall Impression of "Once Tasted"

Overall, "Once Tasted" was a very good read  with a good mixture of cowboy, wine and romance.    I also enjoyed the first series 'Once Tempted'  and I do look forward to the next series  about Quinn's story by this author.

"A Seasonal Reunion" by Anne Brooke....

What was this novel about?

Danny Brigson makes a serious mistake when he sleeps with Marty, an old boyfriend at an ill-advised reunion. He tries to cover it up, but Marty tells all, and the love of Danny's life, Jake, throws him out.

Over the next year, Danny tries to sort his life out, determined to stop relying on drugs and drink to get him through. Can he even dare to hope that one day Jake might give him the chance to put things right?

What I thought about this novel...

The author presents a short story to the reader showing what Danny had done to  cause hurt from a mistake that he made while drunk. Will his partner(Jake)  be able to forgive him after finding out what had gone on with  Danny and his ex?  This author took us on a little journey of fixing Danny and YES, this is a gay read.  Thankful for Danny's friend and boss Robert, will  he be able to get him on the right track that he so desperately needed?  From the read you  can see just how this was done and I will stop here not wanting to spoil it and say you must pick up the read to see what the outcome will be for Danny.  Will Danny be able to fix his problems so he can have a lasting relationship with his partner Jake?  I found "A Seasonal Reunion" was a story of what can happen in a relationship when one steps out whether it is due to drugs and or alcohol, whatever the case may be.  I will say it was an interesting story seeing how this story plays out.

But when the magical weekend comes to a close, Sam must return to Chicago, while Lydia heads back to her complicated life and young son in New York. Can their newfound connection survive the trials of physical distance and years of emotional baggage?"

What I liked from this novel...

This was  a very enjoyable read that took place among friends and family celebrating a wedding one weekend.  I found this novel very detailed and very relatable heart warming story, however, I was a little disappointed that I would have to wait until the next sequel to find out what happens as Sam and Lydia try to find love.  The author has given the reader a good read of romance through love and relationships.  The characters for the most part were well developed, loveable and believable helping to give the reader a interesting sweet and sexy enjoyable read. Be ready for a read of  fun, friendship and even some drama with some powerful storytelling that will keep your attention till the end.

"True Love" by Jude Deveraux...

What was this novel about?

"Jude Deveraux, the New York Times bestselling author of unforgettable romance, returns with a breathtaking first book in a fantastic new series—the Nantucket Brides trilogy. Set on the magical Massachusetts island, True Love introduces characters from a new generation of Montgomery-Taggerts, the beloved family from Deveraux’s classic novels.

Just as Alix Madsen is finishing up architectural school, Adelaide Kingsley dies and wills her, for one year, the use of a charming nineteenth-century Nantucket house. The elderly woman’s relationship to the Madsen family is a mystery to the spirited Alix—fresh from a romantic breakup—but for reasons of her own Alix accepts the quirky bequest, in part because it gives her time to plan her best friend’s storybook wedding.

But unseen forces move behind the scenes, creaking Kingsley House’s ancient floorboards. It seems that Adelaide Kingsley had a rather specific task for Alix: to solve the strange disappearance of one of the Kingsley women, Valentina, more than two hundred years ago. If that wasn’t troubling enough, Alix must deal with the arrogant (and extremely good-looking) architect Jared Montgomery, who is living in the property’s guesthouse.

Unbeknown to Alix, Jared has been charged with looking after her while she lives on the island—an easy task for him, considering the undeniable chemistry between the two. But Jared harbors secrets of his own, which, if revealed, may drive a wedge between the pair.

With a glorious Nantucket wedding on the horizon, sparks fly, and the ghosts of the past begin to reveal themselves—some of them literally. Finding their lives inextricably entwined with the turbulent fortunes of their ancestors, Alix and Jared discover that only by righting the wrongs of the past can they hope to be together."

What I liked about this novel....

Wow!  this was some good read.  Yes, it was long but again it was  a good love story.  So, if you are into romance novels...this is a good one where there will be some mystery, strong women and a detail Nantucket setting giving  a read that made you seem like you were there in the mist of it all.  What is this story about? ...well its about a girl, man, the past and the present.  There will be a lots to absorb from this read ...who is who today, past and how this will come together and tie into the past two hundred and two years in the present.  I know that is a mouth full but that is how this story will be presented to the reader.  Now to that add to all of that there will be some fantasy or ghost with several secrets that will be unravel.  I don't want to give away too much so I will say you will just have to pick up this excellent read to see for yourself who this author will bring it all out to the reader.

I will say the characters were simply off the chart... .richly  well developed, intriguing where each one seemed to come alive on the pages.  With all of this and more you will find it hard to put the book down because each page is interesting.  In the end I found this read a good love story that touches your heart and will leave you only wanting more.

What was this book about:

Just when she thought she was out…

"Playing the role of con artist was a fast, fun ride, but Anita Henry put all of that behind her to focus on the launch of the One-Touch, her company’s miraculous, do-it-all product poised to be a lifesaver for new mothers everywhere. That is, until one of her cons comes home to roost.

Anita has sworn all along that she isn’t a thief, but she’ll have to be more resourceful than ever as she matches wits with her toughest adversary yet: someone who is."

What I liked from this novel...

This as another one of this author's Mom Con novels and this time it was featuring: "Mom Con: Showtime."  When you think that Anita Henry has this con thing all but behind her well she is found at it again due to the fact that someone knows who she is.  Even though this is the third novel on the Mom Con collection I think you should read the first and second novel first before reading this one.  I believe it will make better sense to the reader.  What happened in the last novel will be explored quite deeply in this third novel: Mom Con:  Showtime.  I did find this novel as with the other two novels very well written and the characters are so real, believable and interesting.  I even found some of the read even funny due to what was going on at that time.  Anita Henry really keep your attention as you will be reading along at a good pace turning the pages and the ending I do believe was the end for this series.  I found this novel to be a good read  and I think it would be especially good for the women's fiction readers.  Would I recommend?  Yes....all three of the Mom Con reads by this author.

She’s fresh off a trip to France with her new boyfriend when she gets a phone call telling her that Drake, her old boyfriend, is in the hospital, courtesy of a rapper-turned-media mogul who breaks kneecaps in his spare time.

Before she can utter c’est le vie, Anita finds herself hip-deep in another con, as she comes to Drake’s aid. But when a day at the races turns out to be no walk in the park, getting payback is the longest shot of all."

What I enjoyed from this read...

This novel continues from this author's first novel: Mom Con where we find Anita Henry having to make some more important decisions in her life which involves her old boyfriend, Drake, an ex and a new boyfriend.  I really enjoyed how this author brings it all out to the reader and gives us a very good conclusion to it all in the end.  I would suggest that you read the first book by this author, 'Mom Con' to fully understand what all has gone on previously  with Anita Henry.  "Mom Con: A Tangled Web" was a good read that will keep your attention because there will be a lots going on in Anita's life.  Would I recommend?  Yes!

"Kiss Me Like This" by Belle Andre...

"Sean Morrison, one of six siblings and the top college baseball player in the country, is reeling from a heartbreakingly painful loss. Nothing seems to matter anymore...until the night Serena Britten unexpectedly ends up in his arms.

Serena is a world-famous model who has only ever wanted to be normal, even though her mother has always pushed her to become a superstar. Though it isn't easy to try to leave everyone and everything she knows behind, Serena is determined to enroll in college. More than anything, she wants to turn her love for books into a new career that she actually loves. Only, she never expected to meet someone like Sean on campus—or to be instantly consumed by their incredible chemistry and connection.

But when the pressures of her high-profile modeling career only get bigger and more demanding, will it make living a normal life as a college student—and falling in love with the hottest guy on campus—impossible?"

What I loved from this novel..

I will say this author has done it again...what a marvelous read that I can only say not since this authors 'The Sullivan's, and now we have 'The Morrison's.  This is the first series of the Morrison's novels by this author.  We have Michael(Dad), Lisa (Mom), Grant, Drew, Justin, Sean (brothers), Olivia, & Madison (sisters).    The first series..."Kiss Me Like was a contemporary romance that featured Sean Morrison and Serena Britten.  The storyline was simply sweet, so sexy with these two people actually finding each other and those 'sweet kisses.'

Here is a little bit from an excerpt from "Kiss Me Like This"....

"Serena was tall enough that his mouth was right in front of hers when she tilted up her face to look at him. She could feel her breath coming faster, and his heartbeat picking up against her hand where it rested over his chest.

“Maybe,” Sean's gaze dropped from her eyes to her mouth, “you should kiss me.”

Serena surprised them both by not hesitating at all before softly pressing her lips against his. Heat instantly enveloped her, both from his hands tightening on her waist and the sparks that crackled from just one sweet kiss.

“Again.”

His request was deep and hungry. And it was her own hunger for him―and pure feminine instinct―that sent her hands up from his chest to twine around his neck. Her mouth had barely touched his again when his lips came crashing down onto hers."

What I  loved from this read....

How this author was able to bring this all together was sheer magic as she has done in her previous novels.   We find Sean was a top notched  college baseball player who was truly hurting from the painful loss of his mother and Serena had been a top notched world famous model, however, she wanted more in her life...wanting to turn her life complete away from modeling and go to college possibly to become a ......?  How will all of this turn out?  Well, you will have to pick up the excellent read to find out because I don't want to give to much away.  I loved  how it was all brought out to the reader by this author  and also I loved  hearing from 'The Sullivans' (Smith & Valentina)  again in this series.  I found the characters all well developed, real, well portrayed and believable.  Most all were even likeable, however, their were a few I didn't care for. However, all in all this was a very memorable, charming, sweet, and engaging romantic read that will keep your attention from the start to the finish.  With that all that is left is for us to wait on this author's next series ... 'Tempt Me Like This' and it's about Drew Morrison and Ashley Emmit's story.  Would I recommend "Kiss Me Like This"....YES!  If you love a good romance you have come to the right place to start at this series.

Note for Sullivan fans: Serena made an appearance in Just To Be With You (Ian's story) and Smith Sullivan from Come A Little Bit Closer makes an appearance in KISS ME LIKE THIS, too!

What I got from this read....

"Arlo's Epiphany" was short and simple read about a cat named Arlo.   This is definitely a grownup version that I felt wasn't really  intended for the children due some of the language(wording) would probably be a little too difficult for them. I can see that this author has written a story of a cat that takes over 'human likenesses'  and goes after the bad ones" being he is a covert operative working for the Agency.  This novel, Arlo's Epiphany' will have you laughing as you are reading the descriptions of these animals and just how they get their prey.  If you are a cat lover I am sure this one may get and keep your attention as this author has written such a descriptive, charming and a  imaginative story.  With that being said pick up 'Arlo's Epiphany" it's only thirty-five pages.

I will say simply I loved reading the novel "Mom Con."  When I first started reading I didn't know what to think but as I was running through it  I will say this author did a wonderful job with presenting this well written script to his readers.  You know when you are down and out as you will find from the read of these three ladies especially one ...what is there to do...pull yourself up and do what is best for you  that is what these ladies  did in order to take control and get back what had been taken from them.  When you think about it after you pick up this wonderful read this can and does happen to a lots of people. It was fun just seeing how "Anita Henry turned the tables on the ex-boss who tried to steal her business, banking a cool six figures in the process."  What can you do about it other than take control of your life and move on.  This author really presented the reader just with that thought...so, will this employer get away with it?  I found a lots of humor in a lot of what was going on and I liked the flow of this story and how it turned out.  I love this  thought..."There are two ways to get money: you can take it or someone can give it to you."  Now, you add to this main story...not only a ex employer presenting problems on to  a  "lazy brother, a  deadbeat ex-husband and a sketchy music manager" and you have a  good story that will  continue on from this novel to the next one from this author...'Mom Con: A Tangled Web.'  Would  I recommend?  YES!

"Celibacy:  What Was I Thinking" by Tranea Prosser...

What was this novel about?

"We can all agree that sexual abstinence is becoming increasingly popular again in 2012 and the reason is that you can’t buy a cure for AIDS or Sexually Transmitted Diseases over the counter at your local pharmacy! Celibacy: What Was I Thinking? is an enlightening take on living a celibate lifestyle in this modern day era. The author, Tranea Prosser, uses her own life experiences to teach fundamental lessons and she explores reasons why sexual abstinence is not only the safest, but the smartest way to live a healthy lifestyle outside of marriage. Using a variety of humorous situations, witty remarks, and idiomatic quips, Celibacy: What Was I Thinking? not only gives practical advice, but also lightens an otherwise hefty issue and makes for an entertaining read. Refreshingly authentic and beautifully inspiring, Celibacy: What was I Thinking? will make readers question their current lifestyles and empower them to make educated decisions in the future. Teenagers just beginning to explore their budding sexuality, religious followers who need encouragement to remain chaste, as well as widows and widowers who are now single will especially benefit from this book. However, anyone can doubtlessly find tidbits of information in Tranea Prosser's admonitions that will make them consider what celibacy is all about."

What I like from this read?

"Celibacy: What Was I Thinking" by this author was a good read not only for Christians but to any one who is able to open their hearts to receive it. I found myself after picking up the novel not able to put it down until I had finished it. This author lays it out showing and telling of her life's experiences of  her many struggles as she is lead into and forgoing empty sex life and dead end relationships to giving it all to God.  In the end I felt  she will get all the love and self respect that she so well deserved from that special person. Why is that?  It's because she is waiting on this from God.    I loved the examples that of how this author brings it all up front  and center for all to see just how to handle some real important issues on this road to celibacy.

What I especially like from this read?

This author has been celibate for many years.  Wow,  that is absolutely wonderful!  I found this novel was very detailed as this author discusses her background of her former marriages, to some of her  dating relationships experiences  that even had some humor in it where I found myself laughing out loud from some it!

What impressed me about this read?

"Celibacy"  What Was I Thinking" impressed me that this author gives the reader  a truly  good read of her  feelings of how it was and is today.  Truly staying true to God  and do what is right while you are looking for that special person is the only way to go.  Will there be test and trials?  Yes, but with God by your side...you can be a conqueror.  The author has given the reader seven beautiful chapters.  They are not long chapter... just a quick easy read  with some great information for anyone who want to know how this person did it...and is going it...being 'Celibate.'  I really like the read and one of my favorite was  chapter five..'Keeping the Perspective'.... and when it's all said and done...I liked this quote from the author...

"I know some people who use exercising to deal with this celibate lifestyle, and everyone has to find their own groove.  I use Prayer, Writing, Fritos and Pepsi!" "Celibacy is more about self awareness and personal growth."  Thank you Ms. Prosser was such a beautifully well written powerful novel.

Will the Serenity Inn live up to its name and offer two wounded souls the serenity that they desperately desire? What will the future hold for these two, when Lindsay and Chad realize that their past is intertwined?"

Why I Read This Book?

I was asked by this author earlier  to take a look at her beta read and since this author writes such amazing novels I wanted to see if this novel was as good as the rest of her reads. Well, I found reading "Serenity Inn" and seeing  it all coming together was really something to read about.   I have read all of this author novels  and  guess what?....this one was not any different...it was simply a amazing read that anyone can  sit back and enjoy.

What I Liked:

This was definitely one of those reads that will catch and keep your attention to the very end.  This author really knows to keep your attention as she sweetly delivers to her readers this well written romantic script.  The story line was simple...with two people who were suffering....Lindsay Morgan and Dr. Chad Lewis.  Bringing these two together took some intriguing steps taken by this author where we find Lindsay "is living a life full of secrets and resentment" and most of all not wanting to be controlled  by another man. Why was this?   Chad had " has been living with secrets of his own and his past is constantly haunting him concerning one fateful moment that ended his career." Chad's plans had been to explain about the anonymous check...'confess, apologize and leave but that had not happened.  Why was that?

We find from the beginning of the story that Lindsay is trying to get it all together for her opening up her   bed and breakfast there in Virginia.   Guess who will come to her rescue and that is all I will say about that. I liked how this author was able to get these two people together and seeing them fall in love was sweet but before that could happen secrets and trust issues will have to come out.  How this was delivered  to the reader was so smoothly presented.  I don't want to tell too much more about "Serenity Inn" because I was you to pick it up and see for yourself how this author brings it all out to the reader.  In the end will Linds and Chad become lovers?   Well,  I guess we will have to  pick up this authors next series to find out.

What I Didn’t Liked:

There was not  any part of  "Serenity Inn" that I did not like....well other than  having to wait to see what will happen in  the next series with Lindsay and Chad.

Overall Impression:

Overall, "Serenity Inn" was  beautifully well written with the two main characters and with interesting secondary characters that  were well  presented  and will definitely draw you into this story.  My of my favorite character was Cook.
