My Sentiments:

As this story continues from  'Pursuit of Justice,' we find the lawyer for Mark Mason, who was Sam Spenser, still trying to work on his case. Will she be able to find this Golden Lake Killer who has taken it upon himself to contact Sam? Will this 'Red' realize how brilliant Samantha is before it's too late for him? Or will he outsmart her again and again? Will he ever caught?

Well, this story really left me shaking my head and saying, why in the world did this author leave the reader like this?.  Oh, well, this one ended weirdly, is all I am left to say. You will have to pick this one up and be sure to get this first story: 'Pursuit of Justice' and then 'A Deadly Lawyer' to see if you can get that ending!

My Sentiments:

'The Spirit that Surrenders to Grace' was a good read about Eve Johnson, who 'dreams of having her high-fashion shop that carries clothing with her name embroidered on the tag.' Will that happen to her? Also, there was something else she wanted for her life that Eve found missing. Now, what would make this a completion for her? It seemed like someone from the past was presenting himself, but naturally, she had no thoughts of this 'narcissistic person. However, as the story goes on, something happened in Sean Bell's life that brought about a change. But will Eve believe this to be true? 'In the end, will Eve be able to surrender to Grace and forgive Sean for his misdeeds, and maybe they have a shot at love?' Follow this story to the end to see how well this author brings it out to the reader.

My Sentiments:

'Barroom Blues: Last Call For Love' was an excellent romantic read as Zara has moved from Atlanta to New Orleans and meets an enchanting saxophone player who sets her 'heart ablaze.' When they finally met, Zara knew she had found someone she might be able to love, and pretty much the same was felt by Mojo.

However, things will change when it seems like a stalker is stalking Zona. But was this true because of what Mojo had received in the mail? Will this friendship become something more as we see more drama, with plots and twists coming for these two?

To get this whole story, you must pick this good read to see how it all will turn out for these two characters.

Coleman Hill by Kim Coleman Foote

 Book Excerpt:

"“Once in a while, a writer comes along with a brilliance that stops the breath. Kim Coleman Foote is that writer.” ―Jacqueline Woodson, National Book Award-winning author of Red at the Bone.

“A masterpiece. Brilliant, vivid, heartbreaking, epic, beautiful, raw, and true . . . This is the American story.” ―Andrew Sean Greer, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Less Is Lost.

“Kim Coleman Foote has the rare talent of completely immersing you in time and place . . . A sweeping yet intimate family saga.” ―Sarah Jessica Parker

Coleman Hill is the exhilarating story of two American families whose fates become intertwined in the wake of the Great Migration. Braiding fact and fiction, it is a remarkable, character-rich tour de force exploring the ties that bind three generations.

In 1916, Celia Coleman and Lucy Grimes fled the racism and poverty of their homes in the post–Civil War South for the “Promised Land” of the North. But soon, they learn that even in Vauxhall, New Jersey, black women are mainly hired for domestic work, money is scarce, children don’t progress in school, and black men die young.

Within a few short years, both women’s husbands are dead. Left to navigate this unwelcoming place alone, Celia and Lucy turn to one another for support in raising their children far from home. They become one another’s closest confidantes, and, encouraged by their mothers’ friendship, their children’s lives become enmeshed as well. However, with this closeness comes complications. As the children grow into adolescence, two are caught in an impulsive act of impropriety, and Celia and Lucy find themselves at irreconcilable odds over who’s to blame. The ensuing fallout has dire consequences that reverberate through the next two generations of their families.

A stunning bio mythography―a word coined by the late great writer Audre Lorde―Coleman Hill draws from the author’s own family legend, historical record, and fervent imagination to create an unforgettable new history.

"Coleman Hill" by Coleman Foote

My Sentiments:

'Coleman Hill' was quite an interesting, emotionally powerful story that will keep one's attention until the end. It happens around the 1920s through the late 1980s. What will happen when these two families move north during the Great Migration, which went through over three generations that dealt with the story of Celia and Lucy [marriages, children & grandchildren]. as they settled in New Jersey? This author, Coleman Foote, a biomythography, gives the reader quite a story from complex friendships, some joys, racism, Jim Crow, alcoholism, abuse, domestic violence, lack of education, poverty, infidelities, intergenerational trauma, child neglect, sexism, love, betrayal, death, and forgiveness. And I don't want to leave out: a lot of what these people came from..."brutal slavery, Ku Klux Klan raping and lynching, misogyny, senseless assault, police brutality, redlining, and endless egregious and ingenious forms of segregation and subjugation." Now, I will say this read may not be for everyone. I will also tell you that you must have a good stomach for what went on in our country then. Yes, some of this happened! One may wonder, did these people get a better life after moving north? This is where I say, pick up "Coleman Hill" to see what happens.

We are presented with each chapter telling what happens in their family. One character, in particular, was Bertha... whom I felt sorry for in how she was treated. You must pick up this read to see how it all comes together.

The author also gives the readers bleak pictures of the various families of the family members being spoken of in the chapter that is presented at the beginning of each chapter.

Be ready for many attractive characters in the large multi-generational family, so you will have to keep up with this story that will have a lot of facts mixed with fiction.

At times, this was a difficult read in what was being presented. The story brings in historical events and figures...' the Great Migration, Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam War, and Martin Luther King Jr.,' which brings out the realness in how this author presented the story to the reader, as it is a mix of fiction and history.

Thank you, Net Gallery/Kim Coleman/Zando Project, SJP Lit/, for this eArc in advance for my honest review.

"The River Runs South" by Audrey Ingram

My Sentiments:
'The River Runs South' was a good read featuring Camille Taylor, an attorney, after her husband Ben dies of a heart attack. The story shows how loving her parents and Ben's parents were there to help Camille and her daughter Willa in her time of need.

After much thought, Camille leaves her job and decides to go home from Washington, D.C., to Fairhope, Alabama, to spend time with her parents. Unbeknown to Camille, it looks like her father has gotten himself in trouble in their hometown, which involved a 'runoff from an abandoned development site is polluting the water and a local fisherman Mack Phillip has brought a suit against the site's owners in which Camilles's father Sam is among them.'

Much of this happened to her parents in Washington, D.C., helping Camille deal with her husband's death.
So, naturally, with Camille being a lawyer, she wanted to help her father with this problem. However, her dad, Sam, didn't want to bother her due to what was going on in her life with the death of her husband and helping with her daughter Willa. That little six-year-old was quite a mess at times; however, I did like the adventurous trips that Camille took her daughter, Willa, on, showing her the areas she went to while living in her hometown of Fairhope.

But as things turn out, will Camille be able to help her father with this situation? Will Camille start to have feelings for this local fisherman...Mack Phillips?

When it's all said and done, what will change in the life of Camille and Willa? Will she return to work in D.C. or stay in her hometown of Fairhope, Al, and reside there? Will she find another love? Why was her father so against Mack Phillips? What was up with Camille's mom, Marion, that it seemed like they couldn't get along with each other for some reason?

To get these questions answered and more, you must pick up 'The River Runs South' to see how well the story is brought out to the reader.

EROS (Love and War) Kindle Edition by Stephanie Nicole Norris

 Book Excerpt:

"They said my presence changed the atmosphere in any room I entered.

According to my mother—it was in my name. According to my twin brother—it was in my soul.

The truth could be found somewhere in between. I led with love in all of my endeavors. I found it softened the most irate of mankind—regardless of the situation, love calmed, turned frowns into smiles, flattered, gave second chances, resulted in less anxiety, and, yes, swelled the hearts of women around the globe.

As co-owner of a popular nightclub in Houston, Texas, I built a reputation as one of the city's most successful and respected entrepreneurs. Nothing rocked my axis—until I saw the most striking woman—a beauty with sienna skin and a pouty mouth enter the double doors.

She was a mystery to my knowledge, but something about her made me follow her every move. Distress and fear were etched across her face as a man at her side clutched her tighter than I liked.

Intervening in situations that didn’t invite me was never my style, but this night, I did, and despite the chaos that grew around me because of it, I couldn't ignore our connection, even though it meant putting myself in danger. Even though it meant putting love to the side for war."

"EROS" by Stephanie Nicole Norris

My Sentiments:

'Eros' was one pleasing sweet fantastic story that featured both Eros and Amara. We find Eros was a good person with a good heart and had God on his side 'in knowing with God all things are possible.' Now if only he could bring Amara around to this thinking. These two fell in rather fast. Will this be realistic due to the circumstances we find Amara in? Be ready for a story that will have lots of action, drama, twists, entertainment, and suspense as the story moves on and the love that these two have for each other. We find that Amara was not a joke...being able to hold her on with Ezra was quite a piece of work.

By the end of the story, we are given quite an interesting story that will keep one entertained till the very end.
