Lethal Love: An Interracial Suspense Novel Kindle Edition by Perri Forrest

Book Excerpt:

"I loved a man, and I thought he loved me.

So, his cheating-ass ways were a big surprise to me.
Even more shocking was who he risked it all for…
Somebody I never had a reason to believe was a whore.

But I blame myself...

Because I'm usually better about who's in my space,
knowing that those in relationships sometimes wear more than a single face.
They wanted to tap dance on someone’s heart.
They probably should’ve thought long and hard about that part.
So now because of what was done…
It’s only fair that I have some fun.
I guess now they need to be shown the error of their ways.
To the point that they’re asking to see better days.

Cue the deep sigh…

Now, in the middle of my storm, something new fell in my path.
Something beautiful, something amazing... he came with a taste of something I've never had.
There’s absolutely no rushing, to the beat of love, present in my view…
But once my mission is complete, who knows what my heart will want to do?

The only disclaimer I’ll offer is this…

“You'll either love me or hate me by the end of this tale, but I operated off of one goal, only ... that was to prevail.”

Signed,
Nova Skai Levine

SMALL SAMPLE:

“Was that your first kill? I’m intrigued. I haven’t seen you so much as break a sweat with any of this shit—unless you did it in private—which I doubt. How does that happen?”

“You strike me as the type that already knows the answer to that. Besides, even if I could answer it, I’m sure it’s different for everybody.”

“Right. But I’m not interested in everybody. I’m interested in—”

I turned to him. “Mr. Davis, have you ever been hurt so badly that your heart feels like it’s going to burst out your chest? Have you ever been so filled with anger that you feel a thick layer of heat eclipse your entire form—head to toe? Maybe you have. Maybe you haven’t. In my case, when it happens, I become another person. That person shows up… she’s different. Remorseless, vengeful. Just like the perpetrators come and disrupt my life with no remorse, I come to theirs with the exact same energy.”

Hmm…” he said in a voice softer than the one he usually spoke with. “I guess it’s a lot safer on the softer side of you.” He shrugged and held his gaze on me. I thought I saw a little bit of empathy there. “At the end of the day,” he continued, “their loss was my gain.”

He started to laugh, and something in me swelled. Why was laughter even a part of that moment? I felt mocked, played. It showed me in living color that he felt like the powerful one. His being in power was already a pre-existing issue for me. And yes, he did have the upper hand. But laughing about it wasn’t something that sat right with me.

“I’m glad you find all of this funny.”

“And you don’t?”

“Actually, I don’t. I don’t think it’s funny at all.”

“You’ve got heart. And not just heart; you got the balls of a man.”

“Like every one of y’all has balls. Tuh. That’s debatable.”

Whoa. Ouch.” He reached for the door, finally ready to fetch a carrier for the money. “And on that note. I’ll be right—”

My Opinion:

'Lethal Love' was one good dramatic romance suspense that will keep your attention all the way till the end. Be ready for a little bit of it all from 'pretense, hate, secrets, lies, blackmail, revenge, murder, betrayal, deception, twists, turns, lust, sex, and scandal.' With an ending that will definitely leave one speechless and saying what? Well, this is what can happen when you have a scumbag husband, nasty BFF, two-timing lawyer, an extortionist, an envious co-worker, and you will have a good read.

Let's not leave out some intriguing characters that will have you shaking your head and saying, really? I will say that this heroine and hero were some sharp ones who could carry out their plans. To understand their plans, you will have to pick up this long story and see how it was conducted that each one of them got what they wanted in the end.

All in all, this was some good story that this author gives her readers.

My Opinion:

If you are into Post-Apocalyptic Science Fiction, read with some Christian endeavors you have come to the right place for a good read as we read about "Roya Whitmore and her family that faced trials and tribulations after the loss of her husband Solomon Whitmore and their twin boys."  This will be a story of how the"'Antichrist stamps his mark [microchip] in each individual with the use of biometric technological, and biological  a tracking device that keeps tabs on the human race as this New Ruler, with the help of Les Blanche and Hadrianus including the Task Force Ops."

How will this family make it out of this mess, especially after Roya's husband has been killed?  Will she be able to move from Florida to California and be safe?  Well, will things weren't too good for them, and she and her daughter will be to leave there and go to Phila where her twin boys are in school.  What will bring her back to California...a wedding.  Yes, Roya's sister is getting married, and Roya goes to her wedding.  Now, what strangeness will come from the wedding that will bring in help from Flordia.

This is one story that you will have to pick up and read for yourself, and I don't want to give too much away.  The ending will leave you wanting more and giving you scriptures to help one understand more in the story.  In the end 'will this family mend those ties, or will they be marked?"   All that is left to say is pick up "Marked Souls" and see for yourself how well this author brings the reader a good read.

My Opinion:

'Justice' was another good Flirtatious Series that will you turning the pages, and we find Justice and Faizaon going through their situation.  It was good seeing Faizon finally having to work on his insecurities that did bring trouble for Justice.  I could definitely see why she was so upset with how he handled that situation.

But all in all, it was interesting seeing them being able to fix the problem that didn't go away over nite.  There was work that needed to be done.  Will these two be able to do this?  This is where I say you will have to pick up this good read to find out how and if it could be done.  Overall, this was a good read that definitely had a lesson to be learned from it all.  I loved the friendship that Justice had, which really helped her with her situation, and thank goodness that Faizon had a friend who helped up understand what he had done wrong to Justice.  You will have to pick up this read to see if there will be a miracle for these two?

My Opinion:

'My Crowning Glory' really had me going off for a minute due to the issue of Anisa's hair being judged by that judgemental boyfriend, friends, and her family. Anisa was a grown woman and should have been allowed to do what she pleased to do with her hair. I read and saw what everyone was saying, but only Anisa's godmother, Maya, got it right! Making confident choices is definitely the person's right to choose just what they want to do, as in this case. I was glad how this story ended, definitely giving the reader many twists and turns getting there. I enjoyed what one reviewer said, and that was, "Wear your crown proudly, and only you will discover your own glory."

My Opinion:

I will say that this author keeps on giving us good reads because 'Respect' was one of those that dealt so well with 'The Men of Mafia St. Clair' while featuring Noel and Nicholas. This love story had a little bit of it all from love, sex, mystery, some gangster elements, family, honesty, and leaving us wondering what's coming next before and after that 'epilogue.' It will be engaging in knowing if Nick and Noel will get there HEA? Who was this strange woman that showed up, and who was the baby? I guess we will get answers to these and more from reading the next series. It looks like Gideon's story is coming up next in Righteous: The Men of Mafia St. Clair Book 2.

With all of the twists and turns, what more will this author have for us?   And now it seems like Jeremiah is back, and I can see some of this connection... as they sing together...'This little light of mine...I'm gonna let it shine.' ...oh boy, what will be coming next in this author's next tale of 'State Property?'

My Opinion:

I believe this author really did it this time.  This was some good reading.  I found the characters well-developed and so enjoyable.  Definitely, Manes and Inari were made for each other putting in all the hot and steamy romance.  The story started somewhat slow, but about halfway through the story, it picked up, giving the reader quite a read.  I even had thoughts different when we got to the end about Mane definitely seeing him in a different light.

This was intriguing in how this succubus-demon with devil horns, wings, red eyes, and a killing tail [Inari] falls for Tremaine Hardy, aka Mane, and what all she would do to make that happen?  I was glad to see that some of these people got what was coming to them.  I don't want to tell too much of the story other than saying you will have to pick up this fairytale, fantasy read to see how it comes out.  It will be worth the read all the way to the end.  This author did a wonderful job with this story.

My Opinion:

Another beautiful read by this author that puts the icing on the cake.  It was wonderful seeing how everything was turning out for the 5 best friends after all they had been through so much.  Yes, there will be plenty of 'hurt, pain, and guilt,' but when it is all said and done, there is one that is with us, ready to rescue us.

I love how 'The Past, The Present, and the Future all is summed up in the beautiful holiday short story letting us see how each one spent their Christmas holiday.  I loved how the story was so relatable and showed 'not every relationship salvaged will make it to the future,' realizing it wasn't in God's plan. The story gives a good ending to the Vow stories 1-2 and 3.  Also, let's not leave our Shattered and Shattered 2, which were all good reads.

Black, White, and RED All Over: A Gritty, Current, Clean Christian Mystery (Lofton County Clean Christian Mystery Series Book 1) Kindle Edition by Deeann Mathews

                                                                       EXCERPTS...

“It used to be 'what's that black and white and red all over?' was a joke told about the newspaper, but every newspaper in the hands of racist reactionaries in the South has indeed been red all over – soaked with the blood of innocent Black people brutalized and slaughtered over lies in print that continue to this day.

“No more will we allow the wholesale placarding of racist tomes about ourselves and our children to pass for news? No more will we not have a voice to raise in a challenge. No more shall we, the Black populations of Tinyville, Littleburg, Minneapolis, Smallwood, Shortport, Big Loft, and the rural countryside be passively painted as savages while the real savages sit comfortably in places of law, commerce, and politics. Be it known to all Virginia: those days are over! Hereby understand that the Lofton County Free Voice will roar back at the voices of racist reactionary news, beginning in Tinyville, then across Lofton County, then to the uttermost parts of Virginia!”

Captain Ironwood Hamilton and Lieutenant Patrick O'Reilly of Tinyville's two-man police force stood at the nearest public bulletin board nearest the police station, reading what they had been reading, over and over again, on their regular dawn walk through the town.

The lieutenant was 25 years old, medium height and build, with bright red hair, ruddy skin, green eyes, and a shocking Southern drawl (unless you know the Scotch-Irish history of the southeastern United States).

The captain was 45 years old, six feet tall, sinewy, with iron-gray eyes and hair to match. His features looked like something that those Southern artists who loved to carve Confederates out of marble would have adored – classic, robust features, handsome, calm, and resolute. The slight pinch in those features from the sudden headache the captain was experiencing would, of course, have been glossed over.

“Wow,” said Lieutenant O'Reilly. “Have ever you read such bombast in all your life, Captain?”

Captain Ironwood Hamilton shook his head slowly, slowly because of the headache that was increasing every second.

“It's only bombast if the Lofton County Free Voice can't do what it says. I rather think it can, or at least can make a gallant effort.”

Lieutenant O'Reilly's green eyes got wide.

“Captain, you're not serious! A Black newspaper? In Lofton County? They won't last a week!”

Captain Hamilton shook his head again and restrained his urge to rub his throbbing temples.

“It's not 1819, and these are not amateurs we are dealing with. Just from this first issue, I know they have a good chunk of money in hand, dedicated people, and good strategic and tactical sense.”

MY BOOK REVIEW... OF BLACK, WHITE, AND RED ALL OVER

 Book Excerpt:

"A clean Christian mystery that could have been ripped from today's headlines ... Ironwood Hamilton, the new captain of police in Tinyville VA, is put at odds with his regional police colleagues when a new and confrontational Black newspaper hits them all with a demand for the public release of records about police brutality in Lofton County. With the help of one loyal lieutenant and a relative with a famous name and suitably dangerous temperament, Captain Hamilton must gather the clues to a plan for rogue police action that will eventuate in blood and fire! A complex and yet squeaky clean tale -- the first in a series of clean Christian mysteries in Lofton County!"

I found this read quite interesting with all that is going on around us that dealt with a little bit of it all from 'clean, faith, humor, surprises, twists, turns, mystery, and suspense.' I will say that some well-written characters [with Captain Hamilton being one my favorite] will keep you turning the pages to see what is coming next in this systemic racism read that has gone on even in our country. Be ready as the subjects go around 'law, order, race, romance, yes some romance, policing, and history' as we are given a story that will give one a lot to ponder over long after the read that deals so well with racism, yes even in our country.
