"The Thick of Things" by J. L. Campbell
My Perception:
"The Thick of Things" is a compelling story about the meeting of Douglas and Khalila and the changes that occur in their lives as they come together. The book explores how these two individuals, both dealing with past relationships - with Khalila on the verge of divorce and Douglas already divorced - navigate finding love. Additionally, we learn that Khalila has experienced the loss of a child, leading to her grief and blaming her ex-partner. The story takes readers on a journey from Montego Bay, Jamaica, to Miami as the author skillfully brings these two characters together for a second chance at love. It's a captivating read that delves into whether Khalila will ultimately find the love she needs in her life.
