"Adak's Trapped Lawyer" by Freya Atwood

My Perception:

'Adak's Trapped Lawyer' was quite a read that continues on from the book 1 series. We find Benjamin Wolfe has to get the consequences that happened from his past some ten years ago while living in Seattle. In the story, Wolfe finds out who his friends are, and only one comes to mind. How will he get out of all this that seems to be surrounding him on all sides?   I didn't feel sorry for any of the characters because the town of Adak, AL, was a place I would not want to live in and to think Wolfe was there due to a so-called friend suggesting him to go there. You will discover what kind of friend this old boss was as you read. To find out what is going on, you must pick up this read and don't forget the epilogue... again, there was one in trouble, but I couldn't feel sorry for her one bit because Wolfe tried to warn her, but she didn't listen. Will she make it out alive...well, you will have to pick up this story to see how it all comes out. Hopefully, we will get the story's reminder because it tends to continue.

"The Governor's Wife" by Tanisha Stewart

My Thoughts:

'The Governor's Wife' was a good read with mystery, thriller, and suspense. It was exciting to see how a person who was running for political office is in such a mess that involves him having someone killed. But the funny thing about this was someone knew of this man's doings. I felt somewhat sorry for Samantha because she had to tell me after a while that her slick husband, Jeffrey, didn't love her. But, oh well...he was not only rich but 'evil, abusive, murder, drama, calculating,' and you could go on naming other things that fit him to a t.

Be ready for the twists and turns when the story starts to unravel. You will keep turning the pages to see how this story ends. Who will be alive when it's all said and done?    This is where you must pick up this story to see how well this author brings it all together for the reader and see whether there will be another love interest for another particular two?

"Fire to Come" by Asha Lemmie

My Thoughts:

'Fires to Come' was quite different in that we find a black child being adopted by an Italian Mafia Don. However, this was all due to the mother wanting the child after she had been found in the trash. Will Carlotta be able to live an everyday life with these people? There will be a lot going on, from 'racism, sexism, hatred, and turf wars.'  Carlotta was fortunate to have one brother who loved her, but the other didn't, which would cause havoc for her. You will have to pick up this good read to see how it all comes out for Carlotta, especially after her mom's death.

The ending will give one something to think about long after the read, so you must pick up this story and see how it all comes out for Carlotta.

"A Praying Husband vs A Preying Man" by Tanisha Stewart

My Thoughts:

'A Praying Husband vs A Preying Man' story featured Imani and Isaiah, who were married and very much in love until they moved into a place that caused much trouble for the owner, Jethro. What was wrong with this owner? We soon find out he was greedy when it came to money and would do anything to get it. During the read, we see how this couple, Imani and Isaiah, had a big problem: communication. If they had been able to listen to one another, things may have gone differently for them. How Isaiah seemed unable to trust his wife made me shake my head at his stupidity, and for much of the story, even Imani didn't use good sense either by not telling her husband what was going on...not even her best friend, Rosie. Like I said...COMMUNICATION was their problem.

This author gives the reader an idea of how prayer can change things. If you are looking for an excellent psychological thriller, you have come to a good read of how this plot has such twists and turns...you will have to keep up. But by the end, the story comes together so well, giving the reader a good read.

"Too Late" by Colleen Hoover

My Thoughts:

'Too Late' was quite a read that this author gave her readers. So much so that you will only want to put it down at the very end. The characters were off the chart, some more complex than others. Be ready for a dramatic, romantic, twisted psychological suspense thriller read with three  POV's. As you read, you find out that this story was around 'drugs, dealers, undercover police, and domestic abuse,' giving you a good story after all is said and done. Yes, I thought it was a sad story, but by the end, this author gives us a decent ending.

'A Love Like the Sun

My Perception:

In "A Love Like the Sun" by Riss M. Neilson, we are introduced to the complex and heartwarming story of Laniah and Issac. Childhood best friends, their lives take different paths as they grow up, with Issac achieving internet fame and Laniah running a small business with her mother in their hometown.

The story unfolds as Issac returns home and discovers that Laniah's dream of running their natural hair store, Wildly Green, is in jeopardy due to financial struggles. In a selfless act of friendship, Issac devises a plan to help Laniah by pretending they are dating. This leads to unexpected success for the business but also brings unspoken feelings between the two friends to the surface.

The narrative beautifully explores themes of friendship, self-discovery, and love while shedding light on important issues such as healthcare discrimination faced by black women. The author skillfully weaves together a story that is both relatable and thought-provoking, addressing topics like family dynamics, unconditional love, and overcoming adversity.

Readers should be aware of content warnings, including the death of a parent, medical discrimination, and kidney disease. However, despite the characters' challenges, "A Love Like the Sun" delivers hope and resilience.

Many questions will be answered, like... What will happen to Laniah and Issac's relationship after their summer pretending to be lovers? Will Laniah's dream of running Wildly Green be fulfilled in the end? How will their shared history and undeniable pull affect their friendship and relationship moving forward?

Overall, "A Love Like the Sun" is a compelling and enriching read that offers valuable insights into the complexities of relationships and the strength found in facing life's obstacles.
