"Shattered Trust" by Lynda Bailey

Book Description.....

"Learning to love is the easy part…

As a young woman, Kate Landry trusted the wrong man, and she paid dearly for her naivetĂ©. Alone, pregnant and destitute, she survived by the sheer force of her will. Now forty-two, Kate has made a good living for herself and her daughter as the owner of the Bluebird Saloon. But she’s forgotten how to live. That is until he comes into her bar…

Liam St. James loved a girl once. And only once. After an accident paralyzed her, she didn’t trust he would continue to love her. Brokenhearted, Liam left and soon discovered a world where women did trust him—to be their sexual Dominant. He plays out the scenes masterfully, but the unexpected request from the stoic bar owner will pose his greatest challenge yet…

Kate and Liam embark on a journey to uncover repressed urges and, in the process, they discover new desires. They also fall in love with one another. But when you’ve been shattered as badly as they have by mistrust, deceit and abuse, loving is easy. Trusting is harder, if not impossible, especially when the heart is involved…

Shattered Trust is a BDSM romance. It contains explicit language and graphic love scenes, including bondage, domination, spanking, whipping and multiple partners. It is intended for mature readers only."

What I liked about this novel....

"Shattered Trust" was really one good story of a person learning to love again, trust again and even some forgiving as it was for Liam St James and Kate Landry.  I loved how this author brought it all out so well for the reader.  But first let me say this is a mature read that is erotic read with  BDSM in it so if this isn't your kind of read...you may not want to pursue this read.  Now, for you that don't  mind this kind of read...I thought the author brought it out well to the reader a storyline about  Kate who had a kind of life that was not good and all of this verbal and mental abuse she had suffered  through the hands of her father and another man ...was still with her  even after some twenty years later.  Now, living win a small town  of Trustworthy Texas and owner of a successful Bluebird Saloon with her daughter life still wasn't  great for her. Why was that?  What was missing from her life?  Then Liam St James comes into her life where he too had some baggage of his own along with his discovering his own very 'Dominate' side of himself where he learns he is able to bring pleasure to other women.  What will happen when he lands in this small town and get a job at the Bluebird Saloon?  What will happen with Kate and Liam start on this journey of self discovery?  Will they be able to let go of their past and learn to truly love again?

I loved  to when Liam asked Kate...'Do you trust me?'  Now, to understand what all this is about you will have to pick up "Shattered Trust" to find out how well this author brings it to the reader.  I loved how Liam knew how to get this job done being a good dominate with such gentleness even if it meant getting some help from others.

This is a hot sexy erotic story of two broken people who will find a way to heal in very 'unconventional' ways.  In the end will these two be able to trust each other in the BDSM relationship in overcoming their past and even find  future with each other?  This author really works it with all of her descriptions of the details of what went on in this read.  If you like a amazing read with some interesting details with hot sizzling hot sexy scenes where the chemistry is hot then this is a novel for you...a heroine is forty-two and the hero is at his early thirties!    Would I recommend?  Yes, if this is your type of read.....YES!

"Sandpiper Island" by Donna Kauffman

Book Description....

Ford Maddox was running from his past when he came back to Blueberry Cove, Maine, where he'd tasted both heartache and comfort. With feisty Delia O'Reilly there to cheer him on, he couldn't have picked a better place to start over—even if he's determined to do it alone in his island tree house, working to save endangered seabirds . . . and himself.

But when he finds Delia fighting to hold on to her local diner, and all that's best about their little seaside town, Ford has to lend a hand. Suddenly two fiercely independent people are building something sweeter than they ever imagined . . . together.

DIY is so much better with two...

Includes an easy do-it-yourself restoration project!

What I liked about this novel....

This novel may have started out somewhat slow but it does pick up  here in Blueberry Clove
where you will not want to put it down until the end. Ford and Delia were in their 40's and I liked
the couples being of  a older bunch of folks for this romantic read setting in the small town
of Maine called Sandpiper Island.

Ford had met earlier  while in the military  and he had the 'unenviable task of bringing back Delia's brother after he was killed in service to his country.  It was then when after one night of passion
they had shared then Ford returns to the military service.  After much time as passed Ford (ex -Military) is now working for a conservation projected in Sandpiper Island which really brought out  to this island regarding the study of the species of birds in this contemporary romance read.  All of this was brought out so well by this author in the read and especially with Ford being so 'stoic and self contained'  living in a 'tree house' on this island.  Would  Ford and Delia be able to get passed what had happened in the past that it was only one night when they were just helping each other during such a trying time in their lives?  Will Ford live his hibernation on this island to help his sister and Delia's diner from this developed who was after Delia's  land even though she didn't want his help?    This storyline will keep you reading as this author gives us such well developed, defined, colorful and believable characters as many twist and turns come forth.  I loved how these two main characters were finally  able to 'rediscover things about themselves while experiencing the magic that was in Sandpiper Island.'

"Sandpiper Island" was definitely one of those 'Bachelors of  Blueberry Cove' series  that I wasn't able to put down due to the fact I wanted to find out what had happened and I am so glad I did.  In the end  one of my favorite parts was the 'Atlantic Puffin' rescue scene which proved to be quite a interesting read giving the reader a real breathtaking scenes along with some wonderful people with some realistic issues and yes, even struggles lived with from day to day.   It was very interesting seeing Ford and Delia become friends again, then lovers and in the end true love was showed...wow what a read!  After the novel this author has put at  her ...how to  "Create Your Own Indoor
Miniature Water Garden" that I found most fascinating!

"Echoes of Scotland Street" by Samantha Young

Book Description:

"Shannon MacLeod has always gone for the wrong type of man. After she drifted from one toxic relationship to the next, her last boyfriend gave her a wakeup call in the worst possible way. With her world shattered, she’s sworn off men—especially those of the bad-boy variety.

Cole Walker is exactly the sort that Shannon wants to avoid—gorgeous, tattooed, charming, and cocky. But his rough exterior hides a good man who’s ready to find “the one.” He’s determined to pull Shannon from her self-imposed solitude and win her heart.

As Shannon opens up in the face of Cole’s steady devotion, the passion between them ignites to blazing levels. But when Shannon’s past comes back to haunt her, her fears may destroy the trust Cole has built between them—and tear them apart for good…

What I liked about this novel....

I thought this was a sweet read of how these two met while teenagers for a short time then going on a different path ending up survivors of 'cruel hands' that fate lead them.  We see from the read that Coles hard life has left him  a kind hearted and protective young man (with tattoos)while Shannon has horrible physical and emotional  scars that she finds that even though she has moved to a new town she is still flagged with past memories.  This was some read of  having loved someone who constantly belittle you and making you believer you are worthless, definitely  having your self esteem and confidence completely knocked out of you.  What will  happen when Cole and Shannon meet again?   This is where I say you must pick up this well written inspiring story to find out how this author presents to so well to the reader.

This is this authors fifth series of 'On Dublin Street' and this one where Cole is now a intensed handsome tattooed man who is a tattoo artist. Now reconnecting with Shannon he knows that she is the one for him but will she be willing to take a chance with this 'bad boy' since she had been burned by a string of bad boys that almost destroyed her?    But is Cole all bad?  Will Shannon be willing to take a chance with this charismatic, charming, sexy and tattooed guy?  This is where I say you will have to pick up this well written series to see for yourself how well this author presents it to the reader.  I will say that the sex scenes were off the chart 'provocative, sensual and so very passionate.
The characters for this most part where  many were from some of the series as well as this one were well defined, developed, realistic, colorful, believable and even the dysfunctional  ones....all giving the reader the attention needed to keep ones interest during the read.

I found this story a good contemporary novel from where you may be brought from tears to laughter
as you read through this emotional  and intensed read with some rough and gritty edges.  But in the end you are given a romantic  read that will make you ... well I will stop here and say read it for yourself and you will see how this story focus on second chances for this hero and heroine!

"The Tea Shop on Lavender Lane" by Sheila Roberts

Book Description....

"When it comes to men, sisters don't share!

After a fake food poisoning incident in L.A., Bailey Sterling's dreams of becoming a caterer to the stars collapse faster than a soufflé. Now Bailey's face is in all the gossip rags and her business is in ruins. But the Sterling women close ranks and bring her back to Icicle Falls, where she'll stay with her sister Cecily.

All goes well between the sisters until Bailey comes up with a new business idea—a tea shop on a charming street called Lavender Lane. She's going into partnership with Todd Black, who—it turns out—is the man Cecily's started dating. It looks to Cecily as if there's more than tea brewing in that cute little shop. And she's not pleased.

Wait! Isn't Cecily seeing Luke Goodman? He's a widower with an adorable little girl, and yes, Cecily does care about him. But Todd's the one who sends her zing-o-meter off the charts. So now what? Should you have to choose between your sister and the man you love (or think you love)?"

What I liked about this novel....

I liked this story of sisters.. Samantha, Cecily and Bailey which was of how important this family was as they were  able to come together in the end in the very close community of Icicle Falls.  This author really gives the reader something to think about...not only with the importance of a family but also shows the  part of hopes and dreams  that will come into the mixture to create a successful trade  putting  everything front and center of this storyline.  This will definitely be a story that when you think you have it all figured out this author manages to throw you a twist that will have you shaking your head and saying I didn't see that coming!  Icicle Falls is a small time where it seemed like 'everyone is in everyone else's  business' in this fifth installment of this authors contemporary  romance series.  Be ready for lots of drama... and issues with self esteem especially from one of the sisters, relationships and small town life.   Now,  Bailey returns home to wallow in self pity...then will there be a game of cat and mouse by ..., a love triangle and the partnership?  What is all that all  about with Bailey and Cecily?  I found all of the characters for the most part well developed, colorful, humorous at times, with friendships, realistic and it was so very  believable.  Will these sisters be able to make up and not a anyone come between them?  I will  stop here and say to find out about what all is going on in this storyline you must pick up this read to see for yourself how well written this author presents this detailed description of 'Icicle Falls' story  to the reader.  I found the story will be very intriguing as well as entertaining  that will keep your attention all the way to the happy ending.   Be ready for 'love, laughter, friendship, family living a good life' as this read of 'Icicle Falls' as you are presented another good series.

What else I especially liked about the novel....

At the end of the novel you will be given some useful recipes that sounded good to me.....Lavender Cake & Frosting and the  Lavender Honey definitely giving this novel  a nice addition to this read.

"Healing by His Spirit" by Geraldine D. Bryant...

Book Description:

"Healing by His Spirit is based on a true story which spans a period of more than forty years. It depicts the chain of events that befell a young woman faced with adversity, the one perpetrator she struggled to forgive and the restlessness of her very soul as she came to grips with her innermost fears. It is a heartfelt and emotional story of faith, trust, belief and the miracles God performed in her life which led her to her ultimate sacrifice and redemption. She holds true to the fact that God is very real, especially in a dark and uncertain world. It is the hope that the writing of this book will inspire and encourage others, particularly those who don't know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, those who are facing serious challenges in their lives...to be made aware...that all is not lost. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. To God be the Glory! Geraldine D. Bryant is an ordinary woman, a recently retired postal service employee and one who has had the opportunity to explore many avenues in her life. A collector of stamps, coins, foreign currency, Capodimonte porcelain and Indian artwork are just a few of her many interests. She has traveled extensively in and outside the United States, as far as Japan and Indonesia, where she met her foster child whom she sponsored through Plan International. At present, she is actively involved in her church work, taking on the responsibility of church secretary, as well as singing on two choirs and a community choir whose members consist of various denominations of Christian faith. Geraldine has one daughter, two grandsons and one grand-daughter. She currently resides in East Mt. Airy, Philadelphia, Pa."

What  I liked about this novel...

I was deeply moved from this read that this author gave to the reader.  This was some story of all this 'ordinary woman' when through from a young girl to womanhood (over a forty year period).  I loved how you were able to see all that she went through with God being  right there beside her every step of the way ...from  a boyfriend to rape situation, horrible marriage to being alone, dating scene..single to married men and finally coming out of it and honoring a "vow of  celibacy."  In the end will she learn to forgive?   This story will take you to some darkness in this person's life but end the ...'To God be the Glory' for I found her one 'ordinary woman' that God has brought her through it all with her daughter, mother and some dear friends. To get it all I do recommend you pick up "Healing By His Spirit" to see just how well this author brings it all out to the reader.   As you read this novel  the reader will be left wondering in the end.... will this be all for Geraldine D. Bryant....as "the journey continues?"

I enjoyed this non fiction Christian  read. I did find it a little hard reading from it  at the beginning but as I was able to get more into this read...I did found it very interesting and captivating so much that I wasn't able to put it down until the end.  Would I recommend this non fiction Christian read...."Healing By His Spirit?  YES!

"Born At Dawn" by Nigeria Lockley...

Book Description....

"Thirty-four-year-old Cynthia Barclay knows that marriage is supposed to be for better or for worse. Unfortunately, for the last ten years Cynthia has experienced the worst that marriage has to offer at the hands of her abusive husband, Marvin Barclay. With the hope of saving herself and her family, she turns to the Lord. When she doesn't see God manifest Himself in her life fast enough, she decides that she wants out. Abandoning her hope, her husband, and her two young sons, Cynthia boards a bus from New York City to Richmond, Virginia. She begins a new life armed with six thousand dollars on a prepaid credit card, a sketchy plan for success, and a promise to return for her sons that is, until she meets Cheo, a photojournalist with enough connections to take her where she wants to be and help her forget where she came from. After six years in Richmond, Cynthia s dark past resurfaces. At the risk of losing it all her past and her present Cynthia returns home to right her wrongs. Has Cynthia chosen the right time to return home, or is it too late for God to restore everything she has broken?"

What I liked about this novel....

This is presented so very well to the reader from this author. The number one question did Cynthia really escape this horrible life she had which was a abusive marriage? I found from the read it seems like after she had done so, by escaping(leaving her abusive husband and two boys), however, Cynthia still seemed not to be able to live the type of life she truly wanted with her new life and friend Cheo. The question is...What did Cynthia long for? So, when time presented itself for Cynthia to have to return home...it was then that with the change that her husband Marvin seemed to have made...now becoming a Christian... what will she decide to do? Stay or leave? Will she finally get the family she had longed for and be able to ask as well as receive forgiveness for all that had gone on earlier? Well, I don't want to say because I don't want to truly spoil it for the reader...other than say you must pick up the good Christian fiction to see how the author brings it out to the reader. I had so many mixed thoughts about this read for and against this heroine but in the end after much thought I was able to see how and why Cynthia choose to do what she did. This is definitely one of those unpredictable stories that will give you a lot of food for thought long after the read. Would I recommend this Christian fiction read of "Born At Dawn?" Only, love is the ultimate game-changer."

What I liked about the novel.....

I thought this was a good love story of Anna Davis and Cole Taylor and you will find once you start reading it you will not want to put it down until the end. The main part of this storyline was of Cole's who was a football player's dying grandmother wanting to see him married and settled down with a 'good girl.' How was Cole to make that happen when he date everything but 'good girls'? For Anna who had been in Vegas for his sister's wedding seemed to the odd girl in the family...being boring as oh yes very predicable. What will she do to break out of this shell that she seems to be in? Well she meets Cole and this is where this story take off. Is this the 'good girl' that Cole needs to help him pull of this situation for his grandmother? What will happen as Anna finds out more about Cole as they will be united in Holy Matrimony? Will this marriage last since it looks like this is a marriage of convenience? There will be a lots going on in this read for these two as they bring in their family and friends into their situation. You will just have to pick up this good read to see for yourself how this author will bring out "Game For Love" to the readers. It will a very interesting read seeing how these two will break down their walls with each other. I found the read a sweet , humorous read and also I do not want to fail to mention the hot steamy sex scenes that seem to explode off the pages.

Would I recommend? Yes, this is another one of this author's good love stories!

What I liked about this novel....

I found "Envy" and even more envious  was definitely what Queen Fatima was in this story. I will say this author really knows how to work it...that beginning  of the novel was off the chain.  I found some very some  interesting characters that really had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next....for Rameer, Ki, Queen Fatima,  Omari, LaToya, Connor  and a few others.   There were some twist in this storyline that I hated to see but I thought that maybe coming and it did especially at the end.  Overall, this vampire story was well told by the author even though it isn't my favorite genre it did  kept me captivated all the way to the end. Would I recommend?  Yes, especially if you like vampires...this paranormal fantasy would be for you.

Ain't that much easier than confessing his own sins? The pain versus the gain. The lies. The deceit. Love versus any muthafucka tryna hate. Too many of these tricks are running around scheming and plotting. Who will survive?"

What I liked about this novel....

Wow, this was some interesting urban read.  This author was able to give us a read which it seems like everyone had something to do with 'Tricks with Motive,' so  I am sure you will find this title was just what this novel was about.  I found this characters storyline were all off the chart...well developed, well portrayed, real with a lot of action and very believable.  As we go from LeeLee, Blu, Rockwell, Rico, Issac, Trinidad, Day Day, Rita to  Lashawn  to name a few, this author  gives us one good urban fiction story.  I loved how this author displays at the beginning of each chapter the particular character of just who is being focus on in that section.

This novel is truly one with so many twist and turns and all of it seems to be on a journey where there is no coming back.  This author gives the reader a very captivating page turner read where you will not want to put it down until the end with all of its drama.

I will say I was on the edge of my seat especially at the end  of this novel because we will be given an ending that was not expected. So, this will be the time that I will say you must pick up "Tricks With Motive" to see for yourself how well this author will bring it all out to the reader.  With that being said, we all will be left  waiting for Part 4 and  I am sure it will be another explosive as well as  interesting read by this author.  Now, to truly understand this whole storyline of  'Rock City,' I would recommend you start with book 1, 2 and then this one being 3.  Would I recommend?  Yes, especially if you are into urban fiction...you will be at the right place.
