Broken Kindle Edition by Lakisha Johnson

 Book Excerpt:

"Gwendolyn was 13 when her dad shattered her heart, leaving her broken. But, her mother told her, a daddy can break a girl’s heart before any man has a chance, and she was right. Through many failed relationships and giving herself to any man who showed interest, Gwendolyn knew she had to get herself together. So, she gave up on men.

Until Jacque.

He came into her life with promises to love, honor, and cherish her, forsaking all others until death does its part. Twelve years later, he has made good on his promises until he didn’t.

Now, Gwen finds herself spiraling out of control, and it’s terrible. But, what she didn’t realize, Jacque was more broken than she was and had demons of his own.

With inward fighting and outward consequences, will Gwen and Jacque recover, or are they broken beyond repair?"

"Broken" by Lakisha Johnson

My Opinion:

'Broken' was some read of just what can happen to even adults that have lived through all of it from childhood as it was for Gwen, Jacque, Gloria, and Mark. What was so horrible about what two of these people had suffered through years of what had happened through actions with their father. For Jacque and Mark, their situation was just as sad. The thing that got me was that their parents [men] were ministers from a church.

This author gives the reader quite some read as her prayers and scriptures reach out to 'strengthen, uplift, and restore' as they did for some of the characters from this story. It was good seeing that, in the end, several of these horrible pedophiles got what they deserved. However, I was somewhat sad about Jacque's decision, but I guess, all in all, it was probably best due to how he had been raised.
