My Assessment:

I'm not sure about this one due to some of the facts being left out; however, the lawyer Penelope Moore did a superb job handling the case that dealt with Jim Green, who had been accused of murdering his ex-wife, Mali James. This lawyer went through a lot... after being attacked in her home. What was that all about? Without telling too much of the story, the reader will have to pick up 'The Deceiving Jury' to see what it is all about. Maybe if I could have gotten the extended story, that would have explained a little more of what was missing; however, after all is said and done, it was a riveting legal thriller story.

"Guilty Truth" by Amaya Henris

My Assessment:  

'Guilty Truth' was another excellent read by this author.  While Natalie, the defense attorney, was working on Gabriel Lennox's case, she also had to deal with her brothers because their mom had come back wanting help finding their father.  All that is left to say, Natalie and James did a good job with Gabriel's defense, and that extended story explains quite a bit of what happened after Natalie's parents had left them with that drunken uncle Shawn.  And I can also understand why Natalie wanted nothing to do with them.

My Assessment:
'Murder For Justice' was quite a legal thriller as we see Natalie Scott, the criminal defense lawyer, asked by a coworker to represent this friend who had been accused of murder. With all that was happening in Natalie's family, she takes the case only to be attracted to the coworker, James. Another thing about the man accused of murder was that his name was Jonathan, and he looked like Natalie's brother, who was also named Jonathan and died from a car accident. As the evidence keeps piling up against this Jonathan, will Natalie be able to get him from this mess that her ex-fiance, who happens to be the prosecuting attorney? Be ready for an exciting read with all the twists and turns one won't see coming.

My Assessment:

"After Hours on Milagro Street' was quite a read full of secret family lineage, with hidden treasures, a haunted bar, love letters, and omg twists and turns all over the place' including some sexy moments from the two main stars [Alex and Jeremiah] of the story. This was an excellent Mexican-American cultural read of the Mexican immigrant experience... What will happen when Alex returns home to run her grandmother Loretta's bar? I enjoyed how this author gave the reader a good read of love and family along with a good mystery and magical realism weaved into the story, hurt, loss, pain, and less, not leaving out the romance. Be ready for some complex and realistic characters that brought quite an interest and even some dysfunction to this family story. Also, there will be 'racism, alcoholism, and mentions of an abortion [of the past]' from this read. Pick up this read to see how well this author brings it out to the reader, where you will find an alpha heroine, a big family, ghosts, and even some hot sexy sex scenes.

My Assessment:

The author knocks it out of the park again, giving the readers a perfect ending to 'The Duke of Tudor series book 3.' Vic and Luxury finally got what they truly wanted, and that was each other. The addition of little Victoria put the icing on the cake. Duke of Tudor was a good series from the beginning until the end. Seeing the characters coming together was good, all but for one.

My Assessment:

The author gives the reader quite a read with 'Smoke' where your attention will be there from the beginning till the end...wanting more. Indeed, the man, Smoke, and his family had a lot going on, and it was good to see how well they handled it. Then with Aaliyah coming into the picture, everything seemed right between these two, even with the age difference. Then, having Zora, Smoke's former wife, come into the picture was quite interesting. Will Smoke be able to listen to what Zora has said to him will be pretty interesting? Because I don't think we want to see what will happen when the beast is unleashed by Smoke[Elijah] due to the death of his friend. But we will have to wait and see what happens next in this series.

My Assessment:  

'Darling Nicki 2' was an excellent closure to this series. From this whole series, the reader finally gets all the answers and those needed from Kirsten and Nicolas. Then it looks like Nikki finds the love that she so needed from Josiah. By the end of this series, one can see how the puzzle fitted so well together. Wow, what a story of these six fantastic alpha men and one princess.

My Assessment:

As this series continues, you will have to keep up with the story because there will be a lot going on inside Sinister. We find Adelle still hasn't regained consciousness due to her severe injuries, Rome and Reign seem to now be a couple, Nikki is up to something, and the Di Carlo family is upset because their money is missing. The Don, Nicholas St Clair, and the rest of the alpha brothers are ready 'to rain down retribution on all parties responsible.'  Be prepared for an intriguing story with twists, good characters, sweet romance, and lots of suspense.   More important information will come out because there will be another book 6  of this series. Maybe we will get to see how this will all come together.

"Send Her Back and Other Stories" by Munashe Kaseke

My Assessment:

'Send Her Back and Other Stories' was a collection of sixteen immigrant short stories. Some of the stories I found very hard to read and almost put the novel down; however, I was finally able to finish each one of the stories. Being a black American, these stories were hard to read these profound reads. It was good to see some of the strongest that some of these women processed in what they found out about after coming to America only looking for hope, and many did not find it here in our dear old America.

I struggled to read many of these emotional and draining stories as being told by a Zimbabwean woman. But, what got me was how many of the stories were treated horribly—their struggles with their families and society.

Whether or not this was a fictional story, even though it may not be true, I still believe some of it could have happened. We live in a world and see what has happened to many immigrants that have come to the US and experienced racism...yes, here in the US. If I were to have one of the sixteen stories I liked, it would be 'Ghost Of My Mother.'

Pick this one up and read and see how well this author wrote a story that the reader will ponder long after reading.

My Assessment:

Wow, 'Captivated By A Brooklyn Boss2' was quite a read where poor Junie had a little bit of it all from that so-called horrible friend, no good husband, and let's not leave out those two crazy moms. Will Junie be able to make it out of this mess before it's too late? To understand this series, pick up the first book 1 to read first. So many secondary characters got karma in this well-told storyline and left you shaking your head. Be ready for a read that will have one all over the place, secrets coming out, keeping up with who and what is going on 'when love and war collide.'

My Assessment:

'Almost Destroyed 2' was one read that all is left to say is our God took care of Ava. Through all of the 'storms, trials, and tribulations,' God was with her every step of the way. It was hard to read how Andre and that so-called friend had been treating Ava and to find out someone else was in on much of what had gone down with Ava. But I loved how she held on to God with her many prayers, scriptures, and friends; finally, all questions were answered in the end. So be ready for an emotional read that lets one know God is with you to the end if you trust him and obey his will.

My Assessment:

"The Sunset Before Dawn" was an interesting short story...a sci-fi, fantasy story. Be ready for a tale filled with twists and turns and surprises in its unique creativity in its love story of how Adian Masters finally searches to find his Anatasia. And in the end, all of Anatasia's questions are answered.

My Assessment:

'Wide Open' was a sweet love story about Emir and Dojah. With Dojah letting Emir's outer appearance being of great importance, will she learn that you may not be able to judge a book by its cover? Was she looking for love in the wrong place? What will happen when Dojah gets a change of heart for Emir after his apology? One thing that was for sure Emir knew what he wanted and went after it showing how she should be treated and loved. The secondary characters were all quite an intriguing bunch of folks that kept one's interesting reading through 'Wide Open.' To get all of these questions answered and more, pick up 'Wide Open' and get a good read by this author.

The story will bring in many different focuses as the reader get some emotional, sad, happy, and by the end, a lovely romantic read.

"Like a Lily Among the Thorns" by Karen S. Bell
My Assessment:

'Like a Lily Among the Thorns' was some fantasy and women's lit genre read that featured a moderate cinderella named Gabrielle Bernstein. This author gives the reader quite an awakening to humanity told through climate fiction with a 'mix of mystery, love, suspense, myths, and mythology.' This read is rather long, but if you stick with it, the story will be worth the good read.

We find the heroine of this story has a horrible past, but she survives as she pushes hers onto the brighter side of life, ending up in Vermont, where she becomes the owner of a B&B that her dead father left her. For some reason, the weather changes radically due to the interference of humans, so the mythical Goddess intervenes, gathering Gabrielle and her friends to teach them about what is happening. What was this all about as the reader sees the main subject of the concern is over climate change? This author looks quite a bit at the global crisis and makes it feel real as it is applied to the real world. This is a well-written story of a 'wake-up call to humanity.'

Be ready for a story that deals with 'gods, goddesses, mythology, and fantasy as the author combines real-world events with these events. If the reader is into any of that...you will enjoy this fantastic read of love, bonding friendships, and the call to action.

"His Royal Desire" by Stephanie Nicole Norris

My Assessment:

'His Royal Desire' was a sweet romance that did bring into the fairytale of the Cinderella story featuring Omari and Ayanna Jenkins. We find Prince Omari Winthrope, from Africa, now living in America...Chicago... wanted true love in his life and, taking a friend's suggestion, decided to have a ball event so he could meet some eligible single women. What will happen when an event coordinator shows up helping with planning this ball event, and they both realize after a few days of being together that they cared for each other? Does Omari capture her heart from their first meeting? Be ready for twists and turns and suspense in this romantic love story. You will have to pick up this series to see how this love story will turn out.

It looks like this series will continue as we get the other twin's love story...Cadence.

My Assessment:

'His Royal Highness' was a beautiful and powerful African tale that dealt with a forbidden love for 35-year-old Cadena, but some things were to be...as it was for this twin sister. Will will happen as Cadena and Gemini [her royal guard, warrior, who was 42 years old] share this forbidden love? Was this just a fantasy? What will happen when this secret some out about these two? What will happen as Princess Cadena demands to be equal to her brothers, be respected for all she did for her country, and let's not leave out that particular guard who cared about her? To get these answers and more, pick up 'His Royal Highness' and see how well this author brings it all out to the reader.

Be ready for a good read that has a little of it all from...'smoldering romance, faith, jealousy, power, passion, suspense, drama, love, steamy love scenes, gladiator fighting, and oh yes, war!'
