"The Secret of Mermaid Cove" by Megan

My Thoughts....

This was a cute short story fantasy read about the mermaids of 'Mermaid Cove'  which proved to be quite a emotional journey for Sophia.  Who knew that Sophia would be in such a beautiful place of pure joy. What secrets would be presented  with these 'wealthy elites' and just why had Sophia's fiance, Lord Everett invited her to this place.  Indeed there will be a lots of  "sand...family curses and local legends...and two beautiful mysterious women...who could not talk [I loved that thought of how this island used the mermaids' sign language] but were there secrets to be shared?"  Would Sophia be made a mermaid a sacrifice? What would she do as a mermaid?   To get these questions answered and much more, you will have to pick up this good read to find out what all is going on.  I loved the characters...Sophia, Everett, Aunt Milli, Joanna and Muriel...for these really carried this story to a beautiful  magical romantic ending.

A Christmas Escape By: Anne Perry

Book Description....

"For countless readers, Christmastime means a delicious new holiday mystery from New York Times bestselling author Anne Perry. A Christmas Escape, her thirteenth noel to the season, transports us to the Mediterranean island of Stromboli for an unconventional Yuletide adventure—and an unforgettable volcanic encounter.

Lonely Charles Latterly arrives at his small hotel hoping that the island's blue skies and gentle breezes will brighten his spirits. Unfortunately, there's no holiday cheer to be found among his fellow guests, who include a pompous novelist, a stuffy colonel, a dangerously ill-matched married couple, and an ailing old man. The one charming exception is orphaned teenager Candace Finbar, who takes Charles under her wing and introduces him to the island's beauty. But the tranquility of the holiday is swiftly disrupted by a violent quarrel, an unpleasant gentleman's shocking claims of being stalked, and the ominous stirrings of the local volcano. Then events take an even darker turn: A body is found, and Charles quickly realizes that the killer must be among the group of guests.

Captivating in its depiction of untamed nature in all its awesome power, and of the human heart in the throes of transformation, A Christmas Escape gifts readers with Anne Perry's talent for making the season brighter—and more thrilling."

"A Christmas Escape" by Anne Perry

What I liked about this novel...

This was a enjoyable mystery thriller that happened around Christmastime.  I found this read one
excitable read that will definitely keep your attention  as it was for Charles Latterly's three week adventure where he finds himself on the 'Mediterranean Island of Stromboli' in Tyrrhenian dealing with a awful volcano. We find that Charles had left London to get away after the death of his wife. Will this "heal the sense of helplessness and  the bitterness of endless small failures" that had happened in his life?

The characters in this novel were all very interesting...well developed, well portrayed and even some shady ones  that would keep the readers turning the pages. Will this be a tranquility time for Charles as he had hoped it would be as he meets these people [Stefano, Finbar, Candace, Walker Bailey, Isla, Bretherton and Quinn] whom he would be traveling with? What will happen after Charles meet Candace and her uncle Finbar?  Will Charles be able to keep a promise he made with Finbar?  What will happen as the volcano gets worse and a body is found?  I liked the descriptions of the foods that Stefano prepared so well for the guests[creating dishes that would dazzle all the senses]. To get all of these questions answered in this short read and a lots more you will have to pick up this authors mystery thriller to see how it will all come out.  Who will make it out of this island alive to hear the ng them know it was Christmas and the 'Time of Hope, for everyone?"

"Return To Christmas" by Kathi Macias

What I liked about this novel....

"Return To Christmas" was a well written story about 'Two Troubled souls' ...a marine who had been through some really bad times after his second deportment from the 'Middle East' only to leave him quite a broken man suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder {PTSD}. This story will  also also includes a young child who was suffering from 'Attachment Disorder.'  When it is all said and done this author will give the reader a interesting story of  'love, hope, and redeeming faith.'  It was a good story of how these two people that needed help in the worst way were able to began the road of hope as each of  these families that had struggled so much with these life changing situations.  I loved how this author brings out that through 'prayer and faith in God,' each one of these two people were able to come out of this on to the road to healing and recovery. This was definitely a novel of 'unconditional hope, love, above all redemption' and I would highly recommend this novel as a excellent read.

We find Fiona was back in her home town of Blueberry Cove. Maine [small town] for her sister Hannah's Christmas wedding and since she was now staying and opening up her new shop [Fiona McCrae Interiors].  What will happen when Fiona who was nicknamed Fireplug Fi by a a old childhood friend  ....Ben who was her brothers Logan's best friend was also back in town working at his family business?  There will be a lots going on in this story...from upcoming nuptials, old friends and family getting back together to even business concerns. What will happen as Ben sees Fiona as a a woman and not just 'Fireplug Fi?  Will they become more than just friends as Fiona learns that Ben's become far greater than the boy she had a crush on?  I loved how this author gives the reader such a well written story about this McCrae family who were truly there for each other along with some other very interesting characters that will keep you turning the pages until the end.  Be ready for catching up with the Cove residents that are well developed, likable, well portrayed and believable that will keep the reader engaged in it all.

This is the second novel in this series..'The Brides of Blueberry Cove #2 ....which deals mainly with Fiona and Ben. I would suggest that even though its a standalone read I would read the first series to truly understand how well this storyline is so well written.  I truly loved that  train ride that Ben and Fiona took during the holidays ...what chemistry, definitely leaving you saying WoW!  Now, to learn

My Thoughts....

This was quite a interesting mystery thriller read that once I started reading it I wasn't able to put it down until the end.  Everything seemed to be going great for Shelley Marano...and then she receives a text from a brother that she didn't know she had saying .... [YOU'RE GOING TO DIE].  Now what was up with that? ...And then there is more...Shelly was also told that she was adopted and in danger. Now what is going on in Shelley Marano life...where she had been a happy senior in high school...looking forward to going to college...working at  her father's auto body shop and best friends with Winston?  Now for Shelley...it seems like her life has been turned upside down and this is where I will stop and say that you will have to pick up this fast paced, well written story to find out what all will come of Shelley Marano.  It will be one ride with many twist and turns, drama, suspense with some real intriguing characters that will keep you turning the pages wanting to know what will be coming next in this good read.  Will 'Nature vs. Nature'  win out in the end for Shelley?  I love how the storyline presented which showed  the growth of this heroine ....Shelley definitely learning just who her true  loyal friend really was in the end.  Will life for Shelly ever be the same after 'a series of terrifying revelations that she goes through?'  Again you will have to pick up the read to see how this author presents it so well to the readers.

As I came to the end of this novel I was left wanting more answers like... ['who are the others...and who is this real Shelley?'], so I hope there will be a sequel for more of this story.

Thank you to the author for letting me read your novel  and give my honest  opinion of the read.

A Year Without A Purchase By Scott Dannemiller

Book  Description....

"The Year without a Purchase is the story of one family's quest to stop shopping and start connecting. Scott Dannemiller and his wife, Gabby, are former missionaries who served in Guatemala. Ten years removed from their vow of simple living, they found themselves on a never-ending treadmill of consumption where each purchase created a desire for more and never led to true satisfaction. The difference between needs and wants had grown very fuzzy, and making that distinction clear again would require drastic action: no nonessential purchases for a whole year. No clothes, no books, no new toys for the kids. If they couldn't eat it or use it up within a year (toilet paper and shampoo, for example), they wouldn't buy it.

Filled with humorous wit, curious statistics, and poignant conclusions, the book examines modern America's spending habits and chronicles the highs and lows of dropping out of our consumer culture. As the family bypasses the checkout line to wrestle with the challenges of gift giving, child rearing, and keeping up with the Jones's, they discover important truths about human nature and the secret to finding true joy. The Year without a Purchase offers valuable food for thought for anyone who has ever wanted to reduce stress by shopping less and living more."

"A Year Without A Purchase:  One Family's Quest to Stop Shopping and Start Connecting" by Scott Dannemiller

What I enjoyed from this read.....

I found this novel very interesting...something to really think on long after the read.  There were several ideas presented that did give me reasons to think upon from this author.  With all of the consumerism that goes on just in the United States one will be able to look on quite a bit of it as something to definitely be concerned about.  It was a interesting read of how this author shared his feeling 'surrounding the sacrifices made by he and his wife to connect more with others about what was essential to living.' Now, that was a read!  I found Mr. Dannemiller was some what humorous as he delivered some of his experiences with the reader. I will say by the time I reach the end of the novel I did find myself saying..do I really need some of the items I have?  So, maybe after reading this book... I was now seeing this read in a different light...exploring the relationship that I have with all of my stuff...saying...is this stuff  really making me happy or preventing me from achieving  my ultimate goal?

Along with the humor the reader will  receive 'Biblical passages, personal anecdotes, research, tools for individuals/couples/families to evaluate their own relationship to their material things.'

In the end this read of these short chapters...will gives the reader a great challenge and that is knowing what is important to you ...evaluation your wants/needs.  Which is important?  Learning to make everyday count and not worry about all that stuff you want but may not need was one thing I got out of this read.  I thought  this novel was a very important that can help anyone who wants change in their spending and consuming in their everyday life.  This was definitely a inspiriting read.

Would I recommend? YES!

I loved how this author was able to get into the heart with all of its emotional pull and give the reader some real interesting characters especially for Jake and Corey who find solace in each other when they both needed each other as one will try to remain sober and while the other who was fighting to get his pitching arm back.   What will happen in the end for these two gives us their POV as they go on this emotional ride when it is so plain to see that they want  or need to 'feel, love and belong?' With both of these characters needing to be saved...would they be able to save each other.   I love this author writing style as it will pull the reader into a good read that will keep your attention all the way till its incredible  end.   Will these two individuals be able to overcome their fears and finally love each other?  To find out the answer to these and many other interesting question you will have to pick up this good read to see for yourself who well this author delivers it all to the reader.

What I liked about this novel...

I enjoyed both of these novellas!  It was quite a read as the Callahan's Family Cottage in Asheville, seemed to be quite a magical cabin for not only Lacey and Ean but will it be for Ava and Brian?  These two love stories were both sweet romantic reads that will keep your attention all the way till the end. I love how this author was able to give the reader a good read with some very interesting characters.

The Christmas Cottage...featured Lacey and Ean...along with Ava...and Mason
then we move onto the next novella...
Ever After featuring Ava and Brian...along with Lacey and Ean

Both of these stories will put a smile on your face being so warm hearted.  Be ready for both of these novellas will be about 'family, friendship and most of all life lessons.'  A question I did ask...Will Ava grow up and not have it be all about her always wanting the 'total [perfect] package?'  What was she really searching for?   Now, I don't want to tell to much about these romantic stories but want the reader to pick this read up and see for yourself how well this author presents these two stories back to back adorable reads.

No amount of defense convinces him she is not the estranged daughter of his surrogate mother. Crushed by cruel and unusual hatred, Maebelle Hawkins resigns herself to a mere state of simply existing. Then their daughter Tara Poygoode grows up.

Tara Poygoode is pleased that she has her mother and father's good looks. But she hates him for the humiliation, cruelty, and power he wields over her large family. "In Her Presence: A Husband's Dirty Secrets" by Nancy Weaver

Now....this was is supposed to be a true story...based on someone that this author knew...leaving me to say oh my God...really?! As I read through this novel I could only shake my head not even imagining knowing that this did really happen?! This was a very disturbing read for me but I made it through still left with many thoughts left after this story that this author has presented to the reader being so full of 'lies, deceit, betrayal, family secrets and incest.' I will say this read tops all of the reads that I have done over the years and to think that this really did happened. I know I am still trying to deal with that one! This is one heartbreaking novel of several generations of abuse.

What I found hard to believe was that a mother would permit this to happen to her own children and where was everyone ....when it was out that all knew what was going on in the dysfunctional abusive family that had gone on for many generations?! Why didn't someone help? I will say this author really keeps your attention because there will be so much going on where you will feel the intensed emotional pain through this read.

The two main characters...Maebelle Hawkins and Rufus Poygoode...well, I think they were made for each other in some sort of sick way...[but those poor kid did not have too endure this abuse] and that will be all I have to say about that. You will just have to pick up this novel to get this story for yourself. It will definitely not be a easy read...at least it wasn't for me.

Will this family be able to come out of all this hardships? ...Well, again you will have to pick up the novel to see what happens next to Maebelle, Rufus and the children? It will be one interesting ending that the readers will not want to miss. Since this author is planning on a part two of this story I guess we will just have to wait and see what happens next.

Thank you to the author for sending me your novel. Indeed, I will say was a emotional read that left me in awe of it all and I will be waiting on the next part of this read.

"Through His Heart" by Deborah Camp

What I liked about this novel....

I loved this series of 'The Mind's Eye Series.'  The two main characters...Levi and Trudy were some very interesting individuals with all of their passion and yet being their for each other as they worked on this new a psychic mystery as this case will hit home for Levi as his past will come back to haunt him in this well written storyline.  This author really works her magic as Levi and Trudy do a amazing job as they solve this suspenseful emotional ride as Trudy gets a SOS from a missing child who just happens to be Levi's stepsister [whom Levi has never met]. I indeed enjoyed the smoothness that this author paced her story....along with the hot steamy sex scenes....as the reader will see how devoted this couple were to each other as they deepen their relationship.

I loved this excerpt of how Truly really felt about Levi.......to me this says it all!

"You make me feel pretty and sexy and you love me as I am.  You give me the courage to explore my abilities.  You know how scared you were of Becky? Well, most of my life, I've been that scared about being psychic.  It's always made me feel out of control and just shy of being insane. Quintara helped me gain some control over it, but you've shown me how to live with it, how to be at peace with it.  Believe me, what we have is a symbiotic relationship."

Be ready for a suspenseful thriller ride as the reader will find out more about Levi's past, Trudy's working her psychic powers, their physical chemistry, kidnappers, their families, threats and twist and turns that will keep you turning the pages to get all of this good read.

"Through His Heart" can be read as a standalone, however, I would suggest you get the other two series and read them altogether giving you a much better understanding of these two characters. So, if you like reading about the psychic phenomena with a lots of suspense with two sexy detectives then you will enjoy reading "Through His Heart."  Will this be the last of the Mind's Eye series?... I guess we will just have to wait and see.

To the author...Thank you for such a awesome well written Mind's Eye series!

"The Gift" by Wanda Brunstetter

My Thoughts....

I found 'The Gift' a second in this series  was a good read as we get a well written story that will keep your attention as you will be kept turning the pages.  We are presented with a Amish story where we find Adam Beachy needing help after a tragedy not that he hadn't already had one with the way his mom had left his family.  What happens as he becomes caretaker of his three nieces will really be some read.  And the fact that he needs a wife to help him...a marriage of convenience...well this is where Leah Mast comes into the picture as she cared for Adams' nieces during the day and did her reflexology in the evening until she decided to marry Adam for the sake of the children.  Now, what will come of this...was there any love?  What was up with Adam not believing in reflexology?    I liked the way this author was able to present these characters life's to the reader where we find hope, love, disappointments, tragedy, struggles as well as longing through all  the emotional parts of this storyline that flowed very well to  even bringing in the hummingbirds and the other animals were a perfect fit into this story.  Also the topic of reflexology was a great interesting part of this wonderful story as the reader will see Adam's past as well as Leah's.  Be ready for many twist that you keep you alert because the author seems to do this so often in this novels.  You will be definitely be kept wondering what will be coming next as the reader sees how well this author will bring it all out ...'love, loss and family issues.'  Will Adams find forgiveness and peace that he needs in his life?  Will he ever be able to 'trust, obey, love and forgive?  There will be a lots going on in "The Gift" that will tie together toward the end, so you will have to keep up with this story [that is presented to the reader in third person point of view].  Even though this novel is a standalone read ... to understand a little more about some of the characters from the pass, I would suggest you read the first series...'The Decision' first. And as always...the author gives us a recipes ...this time  from Leah...'a chocolate chip cheeseball.'

My final thoughts....

By the end  of this story the reader will be left only wanting more of this inspirational  read as we wait for the next series as we will be left with a cliffhanger with many unanswered questions as the reader will be left wondering .... will Adam be able to put aside the pass?  I guess we will have to wait for this answer and more when the next series...'The Revelation' is ready to read.

What I liked about this novel..

This novel  was about Misty [an investigator] and Trey's[rancher and local firefighter] story of a small town romance with a 'western twist.'   Both of these two people were not looking forward to the Christmas holiday that was coming upon them in the small town of Wildcat Bluff, Texas. I liked how this author brought these two together as they are drawn to each other putting out a small grass fire.  I found this storyline somewhat suspenseful in that the read will hold your attention and will keep you guessing who is guilty of setting these fires until the very end.  By working together will these two be able to find out just who is behind these fires?  I loved how the story will all come together for Misty and Trey.  Would I recommend this novel?  YES!

What I liked about this novel....

Three wonderful stories of how they came together from Decatur, Illinois meeting the medical trains all happening during the civil war....where we find a these stories are interwoven being that they are three books in one. It was quite interesting as one read will continue on from the other...during this historical time. I found this read so interesting in learning about the 'Basket Brigade' which turned out to be such a heartwarming stories as each story brings out the 'suffering of the wounded soldiers who were passing through their town.'

The first story being about Lucy who used her home to help the ones in need of care. Will she in the end be able to choose the right person for herself?

The next book was about Sarah...who had a hard time in her life...would she pull herself through it all in the end?

And lastly the third book...was about Zona....who seemed to be very much into herself.

It was very interesting seeing how these three authors will give the reader a separate story with one building on to the next story...with all coming up to the Christmas season.  All of these authors were able to put such a interesting well written read together...giving the reader such a intriguing and captivating read where you will find from the read...friendship, love, and family.  I love this historical details of this story and  I don't want to leave out those authentic recipes that will be included in the end of the read.    I would definitely recommend this read especially to Christian Historical Fiction fans.

What happens as they are thrown together and it seems like they can't stay away from each other?   Then to add some competition to these two that does help to keep the reader reading to see what was coming next.  I will say that this author really gives us a good read of how hard a person can work to achieve what is necessary for their livelihood. ...such as it had been for Dusty especially since the death of her father and a mother who had some illness and was getting back on her feet.  Be ready for a dramatic read with some humor as the reader will be presented in  this well written story.  I found the characters for the most part were well developed, portrayed and believable giving the reader a interesting and captivating read.  For the two main characters well when its all said and done...  In the end will these two ....country and city be together?  Well you will just have to pick up this good read to see for yourself just how well it is presented.  Would I recommend?  YES!

"Breathless 3:  In Love With An Alpha Billionaire" by Shani Greene-Dowdell

What I liked about this novel....

I found last series was a wonderfully told storyline  that ended quickly and well done.  This alpha billionaire got just what he wanted in the end.... along with a few others that added some more dynamics to this well written novel.  One thing is for sure when the secrets and twist and turns  start coming  out...all I could say was Wow I didn't see that one coming!

I loved this Blurb from this novel.....

Jacob taking to his father...

"....I was glad I was a man who went after what he wanted and grabbed it by the horns.  I couldn't imagine suppressing the overwhelming feeling that came over me when I first saw Destiny walking out of Tazi's  in Atlanta.  I very well could have walked on by and minded my own business.  I could've ignored the insatiable draw that pulled me to her, but I went after what I wanted and I didn't give a damn who knew it.  If I'd walked on by, I wouldn't have experienced some of my best moments of my life."

There were some awesome characters that really added to this great read...with all the drama that really will keep your attention all the way till the end.

In the end the author gives the reader a good story all wrapped up for the reader. There were parts in the story I did question but it all came out in the end.  Very well done to the author for such a wonderful read.... for your series were excellent and beautifully written. By the way if you haven't read the other two novels of this series [Breathless 1 & 2]...I would suggest you do so...I think it will add to a little better understanding of what has gone on by reading the previous series.
