"Promises... Defined as a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or a particular thing will happen. We've all heard promises throughout our lives and experienced the heartache that follows when those promises are unfulfilled. This is especially true in the case of Myla Baxter. Once a wealthy child from a good family, Myla learned early on that most promises were meant to be broken. After watching her father murder her mother then kill himself, Myla found out she couldn't trust anyone's word. The only solid person in her life was her aunt Mena and even her word was shaky at best. So Myla goes through life trying not to rely on the word of others but still gets caught in a web of lies. Man after man enters her life and just like the promises in the past, they break their bond and her heart in the process. Then Ace comes along and she thinks her luck has changed. After inheriting millions from her parents she starts a life with him and finds he offers more promises that are unkept. Ace doesn't know that he's dealing with someone on the brink of insanity. After being finessed out of all of her money and finding her aunt is missing, Myla sets out to make everyone who lied to her live up to their word. Violence, lies, secrets, and even murder seems to be Myla's only way out. Soon she has to face the same demon her father did in this gory tale... He promised Me."

"He Promised Me" by Niki Jilvontae
My Thoughts...
Wow, what a story this author gives us! 'Promises Defind as a declaration or assurance that one will do a particular thing or a particular thing will happen.' But what Myla Baxter last words from her father before he killed himself was 'Never make promises that you don't intend to keep. Don't listen to empty promises either. If a man tell you something and breaks his promise, leave it at that. Broken promises lead to broken hearts and broken hearts make broken lives.' Only if Myla would have taken this to heart her life would have been so much better for her but for some reason she had to face a lots of hard times for herself to make it out of all of the 'web of lies' that she had received from many family members, and from boyfriends like Christian and then on to Ace that would definitely put the icing on the cake. Thank God she did have her Aunt Mena that seemed to be for Myla who was really quite a bit like her as you will see through the read. I was really glad when Myla meets Nas, however there would be 'violence, lies, secrets and murder' that will incase Myla life before she will get to this safe place. How will Myla be able to face the 'same demon her father had faced in this gory story?' In the end will Myla learn not to 'let anyone have that much power over her?' I found it very interesting in the end that after all that had happened with Ace [in his POV] he still hadn't figured it out...the only reason he was left alive was because Myla didn't want to kill her baby's father and I guess he must have forgotten what he had promised Myla. All he seemed to zero in on what Myla had promised him! Yes, he had promised Myla many, many times so what about that? I will say he was definitely one crazy mixed up fellow that still hadn't learned anything in the end. Well to find out how this story will all come out you will just have to pick up this good read of "He Promised Me" to find out how well this author brings it out so well the reader. Wow, what a good ending! Finally it seems like Myla finally gets it!
