Falling For A Brazilian Bad Boy By: Mz. Jae

Book Description...

"Ayana Miller is living the life any girl that's grown up with nothing could even possibly want. She has the heart of the local boss, more money than she can spend in a lifetime, and enough confidence to believe this could all last forever. But when a series of unfortunate events take place, even as her man Antron Dixon's ambitions rise beyond his current territory, Ayana gets thrown into the arms of another.
When Brazilian bad boy Sergio Souza comes to NYC, his ultimate goal is business and assessing a local kid's rise up the ranks. He never counted on becoming caught up with life in the city, especially with his newest prospect's chick. But Sergio isn't afraid of anyone or anything, so he does whatever it takes and takes whatever he desires.
As Antron is determined to climb the ranks, Ayana is equally determined to not forget about the fact that she belongs to the local boss...not the Brazilian Don. My Thoughts...

This did her job with delivering a good read that you couldn't put it down until the end. I loved it!
It seems like Ayana would have to make a choice between Antron and Sergio.  How will all of this
come together after her two best friends are killed?  There will be a lots going on in this read where
you will have to keep up but in the end well well well it will be a cliffhanger that we all will be left
with.  Anyway this author has given the reader one exciting well written story with characters that
were very well developed, defined and believable.  So, I guess we will have to get this next read to
find out what will happen to Sergio, Ayana and Antron with even more twist and turns because I know in the end it will be all good.

The Daughter -In - Law Syndrome By: Stevie Turner

Book Description...
.

"The Daughter-in-law Syndrome investigates the complicated relationship causing much friction between Grandmother Edna Deane and her daughter-in-law Arla. In addition it focuses on the sometimes tumultuous partnership between Arla and her husband Ric.

Arla Deane sometimes likens her marriage to undergoing daily psychological warfare. Husband Ric will never voice an opinion, and puts his mother Edna up high on a pedestal. Arla is sick of always feeling that she comes in at only second best to her mother-in-law, who much to Arla’s fury is never told anything by Ric or his sisters that she would not want to hear.

This novel explores the husband/wife, mother/son, and mother-in-law/daughter-in-law relationships. After twenty eight years of marriage, Arla, the daughter-in-law, is at the end of her tether and persuades a reluctant Ric to accompany her for marriage guidance. As they look back over their lives with Counsellor Toni Beecher, Arla slowly comes to realise her own failings, and eventually discovers the long-hidden reason why Ric will never utter a cross word to his mother.

Also, adding to Arla’s stress is the fact that her son Stuart will soon be marrying Ria, a girl whom Arla feels is just looking for a free ride. Arla is convinced that Ria will be no asset to Stuart at all; her new daughter-in-law just wants to be a mother and has no intention of ever working again once the babies start to arrive. My Thoughts....

I will say that this author really did some magic with this wonderful read. I found it very well written covering all the subjects of 'The Daughter In Law Syndrome.  I was left only saying Wow...very well done!  The characters from Arla, Ric, that mother in law [Edna] and a few more were well developed, defined, portrayed and so believable giving the reader a read that will definitely keep your attention. Will seeking help after twenty eight years of marriage through a counselor [Toni] be able to  help Arla and Ric in their marriage issues?   Again this author did a wonderful job in presenting how it all starts...and continues on through dysfunction...even passing on to the siblings that can bring on even more disaster to the whole family.

In the end will there be a understanding between Arla, Ric, his mom, his sisters[Val & Jan]?  How will all of this even help Arla with her son and daughter in law[Ria]?  To get these questions answered and so much more I would definitely recommend you pick up this well written read.  This is one those reads that any married woman may be able to relate to.  Thank you to the author for a excellent read!

My Thoughts...

I enjoyed reading this historical fiction 'While You Were Mine' was really a love story.  This read caught my  attention and I couldn't put it down until the end.  The characters...Gwen, Mary, Dot, Dennis, John, Lisen, and Georff to name a few were off the chart well developed, defined, portrayed and believable giving the reader a interesting read.  Yes, some of the story was somewhat predictable, however to me it didn't take anything away from this well told story that took place after WW II in
New Year during the 1940's.  especially with a few sailors dealing with PTSD ...an abandoned baby...and this story takes off.

I liked how this author was able to use that part of 'Gwen being kissed by an unknown sailor, being photographed and put on the cover of Life Magazine which became a well know photos in our American history.' Now, I don't want to tell you too much about the read other than to find out what this novel is all about you will need to pick up 'While You Were Mine' to see how well it is presented to the readers. The gust to the whole story will have some twist and turns that will take the reader to a reassuring end.

"Reunited:  A Gift From God" by M. [Madlyn] E. Marshall

My Thoughts...

This was a short read but one powerful story of how when two people finally get on the right track with God powerful things can happen.  Who knew that after a marriage had broken up so tragically that in the end all would be made new again.  Well, this is what happen for Elaine and Tony.  After horrible things had happened to Elaine due to Tony's horribleness he had been to his wife...separation, divorce and each going on with their lives, however, there would be a change for each of these two.  What was that?   Well, it seems like they were finally on the right road and that was having Christ in their lives. With neither one of them knowing what had happened to each after their divorced it would quite a shock how they got back together again...and all of that with they help of their friend who was truly a friend Cassandra Reynolds,  Now, I don't want to tell too much of the story but the author really gives the reader quite a intriguing  story that will keep your attention till the end.  What really comes out of it all that I found so important was this was truly a 'story of redemption, love, forgiveness, regrets and the power God has to make even the most improbable of situations thrive through His grace.'  I had to give you that direct quote because I couldn't have said it any better.  How these two would come together would be a work of...well you will have to pick this read up to see how well this author brings it all out....so very well!  When one thinks that their life is set one way...then you let God come into your life...things may certainly change as it did for Elaine and Tony.

My Thoughts...

I will say that this was one wonderfully written story that continued on from 'Elite Affairs I:
Orchestrated Beauty' that I thoroughly enjoyed. This author really has a way of keeping you
so attentive to her stories that you will find it hard to put down. The read finds Chrisette Duncan-Elliot still dealing with her own self images of herself...a horrible ending with that Langston,
a dysfunctional family...mom and sister with problems...but still she had her career which seemed
to be doing great. This part of the read deals also with Chrisette's friends and also 'ladies of Elite
Affairs Inc.' ... Carmen, Tempsett and Zion. Each one of these ladies had a story that was very
interesting to read about. Will Chrisette final find a love of her life as Gabriel comes more into
this picture? Will he be their for her thought the thick and thin of her life as she still is having to
deal with that Langston and her mom and sister [Desiree and Juliette]? Will there ever be any forgiveness for this family for all that had happened? I did love how this author was able to present this story in such a way that all questions and there will be many will be answered in the end. So, I would definitely recommend that you pick up both of this authors novels to fully understand what has gone on before and see how this ending will come out for one Ms. Chrisette Duncan-Elliot. Will it be a good ending?

My Thoughts....

Chrisette Duncan-Elliot was really something in the read in that she had a very prestigious business that was doing so well however, her personal life didn't seem to be going so well. Now why was that...well with all of her business going so well Chrisette had  'insecure issues about her size' and with her being such a smart person...this didn't seem to help.  Will she meet someone[after that Langston] that will be true to her and let's not leave out that very dysfunctional family [her mom and sister]that seemed to not care for her other than what they could get from her... bringing into her life a lots of drama and deceitfulness?   Why was that?  As the story goes on we find that even one of Chrisette's friends had their share of problems too. To find out the answers to all of the questions and more you will have to pick up the well written story and see for yourself. Maybe things are looking up for Chrisette ... will she meets someone who seems to really care about her.  This author has given the reader a very good tasting story and will leave you only wanting the next series to this read..'Elite Affairs II' to find out the rest of this story.

If You Change the Words, You Change the Meaning: An Addict's Struggle to Let Go By: Ellen Allen

Book Description...

"The setting of this novel takes place in two states, Mississippi and Louisiana. In the story ABLE and LIZ are recently married after a twenty one year friendship. Both Able and Liz forged new lives and relationships with other individuals only to find themselves back in each other's arms. However, there are struggles early on in their marriage because of addiction and dependency issues. They love each other but their union is proving to be toxic. This novel shines a light on the toxic nature of love and human emotion when loyalties are misplaced. Throughout the pages of this book you see lies, deceit and injustices being acted out in a vicious cycle of instability. Hurricane Katrina is briefly mentioned to heighten the depth of Able's ability to be a fierce man of substance. The book is bringing light to the hidden and raw emotions of a struggle. I guess you can reference it to the good versus evil, night compared to day and sad verses happy ideologies."

"If You Change the Words, You Change the Meaning" by Ellen Allen

My Thoughts...

I can only say is that this is some read.  I had to put it down a few times and pick it back up because of some of what what going on was for me a little hard for me to digest but having picked it back up and venturing on I was glad I did.  The ending made sense... I just wished this heroine had come to that conclusion much earlier but I know for some it may take some time to get to that place.  OK, where do I start..Liz meets Able and it was LOVE at first site.  They become a couple with Liz not knowing that Able also had a best friend who was called Cain which was a drug addition.  Could all the love that Liz had for Able be about to cure him?  The story will bring in some of Able's family [Jezzy], his baby's mama [Lauren] and along with the addiction CAIN the readers are given one dramatic emotional story of destruction.  Will Liz be taken down with all of this? Why was it that she felt that she could help cure his addiction?  At times I was so upset with Liz's thinking ...couldn't she see the writing on the wall...Able is not doing anything but dragging her down with him!  Who all needed the help with the addiction?  What I received from this novel was that when a person decides that they need the help... all the help in the world isn't going to help to them until they want to HELP themselves. After Liz talks and shares with Candice, her mom and other friends will she ever make the right decision and know that she was in denial?  Will Liz be able to "muster up enough strength to walk away and not look back?"  Well, this is where I will stop and say you will have to pick up this novel to see how it turns out.  Wow, this was definitely one of those reads that had me shaking my head and say wow, what a read!  I loved how this author gave the reader powerful poems at the end of most of the chapters...beautifully done!  Even though this is a fiction read I am more than sure incidents like this story has happened to many people leaving me thinking addictions whether it is drugs or whatever can really beat you down if you let it.  What a journey for these two tortured souls that had almost destroyed each other!

Thank you to the author for the gift of the novel for my honest opinion of the read.

"My Son's Ex-Wife"  by Shelia E. Bell [Lipsey]

My Thoughts....

Continuing on from this author's series ...My Son's Wife...and this one...'My Son's Ex-Wife was another good read.  Again with some realistic characters that are well developed, defined and oh so believable...all giving the reader another good read of redemption and forgiveness by this author.I thought a lots of that scripture...'I can do all things through Christ Jesus.  Anyway moving on I found this author really has a way with her writing that will keep you turning the pages to see what going to happen next as you will see when tragedy strikes and with this seeing the  Graham family will once again need to hold on to their faith. Will there be some changes for all to see like in Rena, Francesca and maybe a few others?  I loved this second story of  'forgiveness, repentance, faith and restoration' from this series. This story was so very well presented by this author.   Now, I am looking forward to continuing on to the next series...'My Son's Next Wife.'

What a read that had such so many secrets, lies and real life drama that will definitely keep your attention till the end. This author really gives us a read of real life situations that are so realistic and has happened in so many families. The characters were off the chain...from Pastor, First Lady Audrey Graham, Rena Francesca,to Stiles...all giving the reader one good read of what could go on behind closed doors.  The tough word in the read is the word 'forgiveness' because it is so important all the way through this read as you will be left wanting what is going to happen next.  I loved how the author used the scriptures in the stories...beautifully done!  After you finish reading 'My Son's Wife' the reader will be left with thoughts of the read long after finishing it.  Yes,it will be a long read and maybe not a happy ending  but you will be left wanting the next series...'My Son's Ex-Wife...The Aftermath.'

A very touching story...of Angel young black girl in the 50's who was the daughter of 'Georgie and Donnie' that endured quite a bit from the hands of Miss Emily Baker.  I will say that lady definitely made Angel's abduction so very captivating giving the read a very interesting read.  As Angel is drawn into Miss Emily manipulation, craziness and  strangeness and let's not leave out that hold she had on Ricky. Will Angel make it back to her mom Georgie before it is too late?     In the end I liked how this author brings it all together and I will stop here and say to get the whole story the reader will have to pick up this well written read with a good storyline to see what all happens in the end.

"The Life of Payne" by Shelia E. Bell

My Thoughts......

"The Life of Payne" was really one read that was indeed not sweet.  Payden [Payne] was one fifteen year old freshman that had had been treated so horrible by his own mother.  With his mother being so
mentally messed up with drugs and the way she treated all of her children especially Payne...all I can say is what a story this author gives the reader.  Thank God Payne had two friends Stunna and Marissa who seemed to be their for him if nothing else just to listen.  I must say that Payne's aunt and uncle were also their for Payne's brothers and sisters.  I do have some mixed feeling for this story because I don't think Payne's mom ever learned from this horrible situation.  Now, I don't want to tell
to much more of this story.  I will say that I was glad that in the end it seemed like the children would be truly taken care of.  Hopefully, Payne who really knew pain in his life would be able to listen to the advice of his uncle and not let all of past life affect him.  "Will God answer Payne's prayer and let him have a normal life, or will he always be destined to live a life of pain?" Well. I guess we can only pray that it will happen for these children.  This is one of those reads that will be with you long after the read.  I was definitely left shaking my head and saying wow what a read.

My Thoughts...

What a interesting read about fourteen year old Nyl's and his family.  This author brings in some very good points showing how children can be so mean and cruel to each other.  Being homeless can be such a stressful situation as it was for the Person family after the death of a mom and wife.  This had been a well kept secret but after Nyl who was a HS freshman and star point guard on a basketball team  is spotted in a local soup kitchen...it all starts to come out about what all is going on in his life.  How will this be dealt with?  I liked how this author was able to bring this all out to the readers as she 'incorporates lessons about tolerance, sensitivity and hardship' in her read.    I found the characters mostly well developed, portrayed and believable giving the reader a well written story with enough twist to keep your attention till the end giving the reader a very thought provoking read.  Truly how we treat people is very important in our everyday life's.

Only In My Dreams By: Shelia Bell

Book Description...

"Fantasia Runsome has it all - beauty, brains, her own art galleries, homes across the country, and everything else money can buy. What Fantasia doesn't have and never has desired is LOVE. She holds on to bitterness and anger from when her father died when she was just a young girl. Fantasia swears that she will never fall in love because she doesn't want to experience the hurt, pain and grief that her mother Ruth Runsome went through when her husband (Fantasia's father) died. A highly religious man, Fantasia feels that God destroyed their once perfect family. To top it off, her brother, Prodigal, also experienced the ultimate pain when he not only lost his leg in a terrible fire, but he also lost his wife to cancer, leaving Prodigal with two small children to raise. Fantasia has no reason to trust or believe in God, and she definitely has no room for a man in her life...unless it's a man that she seems to find Only In Her Dreams.

Randall Hughes, a partner in a line of men's clothing stores that cater to the rich and famous is handsome, secure and a man after God's own heart. He desires the woman that God has designed for him and he is willing to wait patiently until God reveals her to him. When he meets Fantasia Runsome, the good friend and cousin of his business partner's wife, he is immediately drawn to her beauty. What disturbs but yet intrigues him is Fantasia's disdain toward his faith and him. So why is he still attracted to her? This surely can't be the woman God has for him....could it?

Fantasia and Randall are two souls unknowingly seeking the same thing - to be loved. Will they find it in each other?"

My Thoughts...

This was quite a interesting sweet romantic read about Fantasia and Randall. This author gives us a good story about Fantasia who had a problem excepting LOVE, not wanting to 'experience hurt, pain and grief'  after the death of her father. Why was this?  So, it seems like Fantasia was living life to the fullest having it all...'everything money can buy.' Fantasia even thought that she didn't even need a 'God' in her life. So having all the money she wanted and no God in her life was she really happy?
However, what was up with the dreams that Fantasia was having?  Then she meets Randall who seems to be a very devout person when it came to his christian life, This is where this story will pick up and this is where I say you will have to pick up this good read to see if Randall will be able to help Fantasia turn  her faith and him?  In the end 'will they find each other?' T This was beautifully written and I would definitely recommend "Only In My Dreams" as a good read.

My Thoughts...

I loved this beautifully well written Christian story of Prodigal and Teary that starts at childhood and goes though to their adulthood.  The novel is full of 'love, friendship, heartaches, death, betrayal, family, disappointment, tragedy, twist and turns and so much more.'  "Into Each Life" which was the appropriate title for this novel will definitely keep your attention all the way to the end. Now, I will say that this is a long read and you will have to keep up to get the final outcome of this good read dealing with love that starts as at childhood of being 'Best Friends' and even continue through adulthood [even though they grew up and go their separate ways].  I loved how this author really brings the characters to life from the main to the secondary ones...all giving the readers a good read and even a tear jerker.  This will be a well rounded story that deals with two families...the Runsomes and the Fullaloves[as they whether many storms] and to get the whole story you will have to pick up the wonderful read and see how well this author explains it all leaving nothing to wonder about. Yes I would  definitely recommend this novel and also 'Only In Her Dreams' which seems to follow up after reading 'Into Each Life.'

My Thoughts....

My, my, my what a emotional dramatic read this author gives to the reader.  I will say this was one of those reads that had me on pins and needles all the way through it.  At times I didn't know whether to feel sorry for the heroine [Clarye] or not because at time she seemed so lost and would not listen to anyone that was trying to help her I did find it quite interesting that even though she had polio that didn't seem to be her main problem with the men who came into her life.  That physical abuse that she received from her boyfriends to husbands was simply off the chart horrible. YES, you can say that  Clarye really knew what real PAIN was but in all of that will she find someone to love her?  What really troubled me about this novel is that many women are really living through such 'violent experiences'  and often it isn't dealt with the correct way, staying just hoping it will get better.   I was so happy when Gavin came into her life. Now, I will say to really get all of this story you will have to pick up this novel and see how well this author presents it to the readers.  It will definitely be one of those reads that you will think about long after the read.  I will say this was a hard read even causing me to tear up at times and still this novel was  well written by this author as she gives a well developed and oh so believable read that it will keep your attention to the end.

Behave By: Andromeda Romano-Lax

Book Description...

“The mother begins to destroy the child the moment it's born,” wrote the founder of behaviorist psychology, John B. Watson, whose 1928 parenting guide was revered as the child-rearing bible. For their dangerous and “mawkish” impulses to kiss and hug their child, “most mothers should be indicted for psychological murder.”

Behave is the story of Rosalie Rayner, Watson's ambitious young wife and the mother of two of his children.

In 1920, when she graduated from Vassar College, Rayner was ready to make her mark on the world. Intelligent, beautiful, and unflappable, she won a coveted research position at Johns Hopkins assisting the charismatic celebrity psychologist John B. Watson. Together, Watson and Rayner conducted controversial experiments on hundreds of babies to prove behaviorist principles. They also embarked on a scandalous affair that cost them both their jobs—and recast the sparkling young Rosalie Rayner, scientist and thinker, as Mrs. John Watson, wife and conflicted, maligned mother, just another “woman behind a great man.”

With Behave, Andromeda Romano-Lax offers a provocative fictional biography of Rosalie Rayner Watson, a woman whose work influenced generations of Americans, and whose legacy has been lost in the shadow of her husband's. In turns moving and horrifying, Behave is a richly nuanced and disturbing novel about science, progress, love, marriage, motherhood, and what all those things cost a passionate, promising young woman."

My Thoughts....

This was definitely one of those reads[written in four sections] that seemed to grow more interesting as you kept reading even though it was a long slow paced process.I will say if you stay with the read you may become hooked.  The four main characters[all complexed]..Miranda, Dix, David[Darius] and Sally were all somewhat intriguing in one way or another and if nothing else you would keep your attention reading to see what was coming next as they were introduced into the read.  I will say this was quite a sad read and it was presented with many twist that will keep your attention. By the end of the read was this a story of  'Miranda's struggle to get past all of her family dynamics, or love between two individual people, or the exploration of a psychological morass of a narcissist who set up his own cult??' The part that I hated seeing in the story was the 'helplessness as a bystander who see the harm in what is going on but can't change the outcomes or the disaster.' Will Miranda ever get the happiness she wanted?   Well, all I will say is to get these answered you will just have to pick 'North of Here' up and read it for yourself.   Yes, I thought this read was a bit tragic and sad  however this author did give the reader not only a blunt read but something to think about long after the read in the way she presented it.

Being a lead detective in this upcoming case will Jo be able to give it her all?  I love how this author brings out how importance of  prayer that was especially needed with what all Jo was going through in her marriage problems.  Will Jo's job be too much for her?  I loved how this author was able to give us a well written story with all of its 'family dynamics' one can relate to in one way or the other.  The mystery of the story's main plot was very well developed, defined, portrayed and believable that will keep your attention to the end. I will be waiting for the next series about 'The Read Family' because there are some interesting Reed sisters I would like to know more about.  Would I recommend?  YES!

What will happen when Toni and Jason start to open up to each other.  These two main characters along with the secondary characters [Brian, Gia, Larry, Trina, Antoine, Shelia, Cathy, Rhea, Sterling, Mrs. Dukes to name a few] really gives the reader quite a well developed, well portrayed and believable story that will definitely keep you turning the pages.  What had been left out of Toni's life that she so desperately needed?  From this read the reader will find that both of these two main characters will have some baggage that will have to be cleared up before this story ends. Be ready for some really hot sex scenes!  You will have to pick up this interesting read "Wolf's Blade" to see how well this author brings it all out to the reader.  Since this is the first in this series I am sure this author will have some more good stories in 'The Paladins Book Series.'  Would I recommend this novel? Yes, especially if you like paranormal read involving shifters and wolves.

Thank you to the author for your gift of the read for my honest opinion of the read.

My Thoughts

I enjoy the read even though I thought the story started out a little slow however it did pick up where
I found myself seating on the edge of my seat with a story that did caught my attention. Being a 'PK' kid myself I often wonder how these stories will turn out. Yes, this one is a Christian read...Ayanti's and Mensah's story.   I will say that this author did a wonderful job at bringing out the characters to the reader that one could relate to in many ways where there was showed 'trust, love, forgiveness and even redemption' in the end.I loved the scriptures that were used in the read that went so well with the story.  There will be a lots of obstacles that will be presented in this read. How will they be handled?   Both the heroine and hero of the story were so well developed, well portrayed and so believable and I don't want to leave out the secondary characters...which were also good.  I don't want to tell too much more about the read other than to say you will have to pick up this well written read to see how well this author presents it to the readers. The African  culture that was brought out in the story was beautifully done and the title definitely fits the novel's story "He Changed My Name."  Would I recommend this Christian fiction romance novel?  YES!
